2. Forgiveness is tied to our understanding of what Jesus did on the cross (not optional)

Corrie ten Boom: “Even as the angry vengeful thoughts boiled through me, I saw the sin of them. Jesus Christ had died for this man; was I going to ask for more? Lord Jesus, I prayed, forgive me and help me to forgive him. Give me your forgiveness… And so I discovered that it is not on our forgiveness any more than on our goodness that the world‘s healing hinges, but on His. When He tells us to love our enemies, He gives along with the command, the Love itself.“

13. Forgiveness sets you free so you can leave a Godly Legacy.

The key to forgiveness is confession and repentance. PRIDE is at the root of unforgiveness. PRIDE led to Satan‘s fall. We must break every agreement with the enemy that we are entitled to some kind of “worldly justice“. We must humble ourselves before the Lord and ask Him to show us our sin and arrogance. Show us Lord where we need to ask for forgiveness. Open our eyes Lord to see you clearly. Let us hold no offense in any relationship. Bind the enemy of our souls so that he has no influence.

The preparation to anticipation leads to Godly expectation.

If we don’t have any Godly expectations, we haven’t prepared in anticipation for the expectation.

Three stages of preparation.

Stage one of preparation: Knowing God’s promises.

Three promises we should know to have Godly expectations.

Ephesians 2:8-10 NLT

1. God has good things planned for me.

Romans 8:27-28 NLT

2. God is going to work it out.

Ephesians 3:20 NLT

3.  God can do way more in my life than He is already doing.

Why does atmosphere matter? Or why does my attitude and mindset matter?

Mark 6:1-6 NLT

Stage two of preparation: Having a good attitude.

Stage three of preparation: Obedience to God's word.

Obedience is vital and an essential ingredient in Godly expectation.

The five problems with the lack of preparation and obedience that kills Godly expectation.

1. It produces small or zero amounts of faith.

2. You either lack the spiritual knowledge of God’s word, or you know God’s word, and you chose not to live it.

3. Instead of being open-minded about what God can do, you become offended by the mystery of the miracle worker (Jesus) and it becomes more about why He can’t than why He could.

4. You are always in a state of dissatisfaction and indecision, which leads to a cycle of constant questioning.

5. You miss out on the greatest miracles God wants to do in your life.

Four hidden footholds that open doors to the enemy.

1. Anger

We can have anger and not sin. Unresolved anger and frustration that we sit in that is the problem. Stop making emotional decisions and saying things while you are angry.

2. Participating in occultic activities.

Deuteronomy 18:9-12 NLT

3. Entertainment

Horror movies, pornography, movies that normalize witchcraft, horrific violence and just plain evil movies.

Psalm 101:3 NLT

Pornography takes our strength and vision.

4. Yoga and Eastern Meditation

Hindu American Foundation

Today, yoga is largely misunderstood to be and is practiced primarily as asana, or physical posture. And while practicing asana for improved health is perfectly acceptable, it is not the goal or purpose of yoga.

“But using it [yoga] for physical practice is no good, of no use – just a lot of sweating, pushing, and heavy breathing for nothing. The spiritual aspect, which is beyond the physical is the purpose of yoga. When the nervous system is purified, when your mind rests in the atman [the Self], then you can experience the true greatness of yoga.” – Jois

Eastern Meditation vs Biblical meditation

Eastern meditation empties the mind. Biblical meditation fills the mind and spirit with God’s Word.

Eastern meditation focuses on self not on Jesus.

Eastern meditation is only escapism. We don’t need to escape our troubles; by faith, we walk through them, counting it all joy, “knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.”
