Freedom is something that excites people but may not be clearly defined from person to person.  There are some things about freedom that we can define.  First of all, it needs to be specific.

Have you ever watched a movie and saw yourself in it?  Have you ever read a book and felt that it was similar to your story?  Have you ever had that feeling that the preacher is talking directly to you even though there are hundreds of others in the room?

When Jesus’ work was done on Earth He said, “It is finished.”  There are things in life that we are challenged to complete.  In fact, the Bible exhorts us to complete the race that has been set before each of us.  As we move forward in our lives, it becomes important to know what things that are incomplete and causing our growth to be hindered spiritually, intellectually, emotionally and personally.

What we do today has an impact on all who come behind us.  Just as the Revolutionary War made freedom a standard for all who live in this country, our actions leave a legacy to be applauded or derided.  History is full of heroes and villains’, the choices we make today will be viewed by generations to come as to whether we, collectively or individually, made choices for the former.

In the book of Joshua there is a point where the people are called upon to do something to commemorate the things that God has brought them through.   Today, we celebrate all types of events in life.  In the process of each of these remembrances we should take heed to what the people of God did in the time of Joshua after they crossed the Jordan River.

Is there a person in your life that you felt really needed a word from the Lord?  A person who could benefit from the type of love and encouragement that you received in your darkest moments because God showed up for you.  I am convinced that in most of these times when we have found ourselves surrounded by darkness, there was someone that God sent to be light in the midst of it.

What if you are the one!  You know who the one is.  The one who can be counted on.

Fruit trees are different than vegetables plants. Fruit trees grow for a number of seasons before they bear fruit. Vegetable plants bring forth their harvest in the present season.

Commitment: created by God, modeled by Jesus, sustained by the Holy Spirit, imitated by man.   It never ceases to amaze how far the imitation is from the real thing.  Is your life more reflective of the saying “A man’s word is his bond” or “A promise is made to be broken”?

Christ as our foundation, His commitment as an example, and His covenant as our security makes for a strong start to any relationship.  Whether it is a personal or professional relationship, if you want to get the most out of it then: “seek ye first the kingdom of God and all of His righteousness, then all of these things will be added unto you”.   Putting faith in God is more than just saying that you have faith.
