We are often plagued by all manner of infirmities, weaknesses and despair. For God to heal and save us, He sends forth His Word to instruct us. However, we tend to grudgingly follow the instructions from the Word, not realising it is God’s weapons to incapacitate our captors. The Word that teaches us to deny ungodliness is not meant to inconvenience us, but to reveal the saving power of God in our degenerate conditions.

Men must therefore not shun any opportunity to understand the details of doctrine - the effectiveness of the strife for spiritual mastery depends on it.

Any step taken towards the Lord for healing, without these realisations, would be done in vain. The Lord truly desires that we be made whole. He desires that our vessels would be brought back in alignment with Him so that our infirmities will be removed.

When the human body falls out of alignment from the living force that quickens it, it becomes ill. In the same vein, when the natural mind of man is not yielded to God, it becomes infirmed – it becomes weak to perform its function. Unlike, the higher levels of the mind which are closed when left unoccupied by the Divine influx, the natural mind gets corrupted by hell’s influx. When hell takes over it contorts the makeup of the natural mind to serve its purpose. This is what gives rise to all the frailties and disorders that plague man. Mankind is created as an intelligent body, because every aspect (soul, spirit and body) of the man is meant to be a vessel of God. The soul is the innermost part which connects the man directly to God to keep him made while the spirit is the conscious part of him. He is not meant to be a lifeless body, but an intelligent body (an occupation of God). He is made an intelligent body by the supply of the capacities of “free will” and “rationality” from the Lord through his soul.

Though the spirit is supposed to be the entire consciousness of man, it’s only the lower natural part of the mind that is accessible to every man – the upper parts (celestial and spiritual) of the mind are closed to the unspiritual man. All the levels of our being must respond to God for our regeneration so that we can access our celestial and spiritual minds for Divine revelation.

Many are called but few are chosen. If the Lord’s invitation to partake of the Divine verities is to all, why do only few end up partaking of it? It is an invitation to an already prepared feast, a feast of fat things; to dine with the Lord; to partake of the Spirit; to partake of the Divine nature i.e., share in His strengths; to partake of an ever-abiding inheritance. What stops us from partaking of all the great treasures already bequeathed to us?

His 'false reality' of being a weakling and being disadvantaged, in comparison to other 'special strong men', becomes his convenient excuse.

In many cases, the contrary winds highlight our weaknesses to convince us that we are incapable of becoming what has been promised us in the Word. We end up doubting the endless possibilities reserved in the Lord for us — we are deceived into thinking we are peculiarly disadvantaged in the spiritual journey. Therefore, if we will make any spiritual progress, it is crucial to believe that NO ONE IS SPECIAL, and that we can all attain the divine inheritance. Those that would overcome the contrary winds must keep looking to the Lord to take away their stony heart as they walk away from evil.
