  • Ephesians overview “ 3:14-19, Pauls prayer (inner man: fear of the Lord; the human spirit), part 13
    Wednesday April 1, 2020
The believer is to fear the Lord, as in respect, reverence, awe, and cautious walking (living).
    1Jo 2:3-6
And by this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 The one who says, "I have come to know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; 5 but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: 6 the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.
Such revelations bring about a confession of unworthiness and sin, but this is not meant to terrify us. Without grace through the love of God we would and should be terrified, but...

The believer is to fear the Lord, as in respect, reverence, awe, and cautious walking (living).
    Eph 5:15-21
Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men, but as wise, 16 making the most of your time, because the days are evil. 17 So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; 20 always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father; 21 and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ.
The temptation in the Garden of Eden was concerning the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and...

Saul did not fear the Lord. He rather feared the opinion of the people.
    1Sa 13:8-14
Now he waited seven days, according to the appointed time set by Samuel, but Samuel did not come to Gilgal; and the people were scattering from him. 9 So Saul said, "Bring to me the burnt offering and the peace offerings." And he offered the burnt offering. 10 And it came about as soon as he finished offering the burnt offering, that behold, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him and to greet him. 11 But Samuel said, "What have you done?" And Saul said, "Because I saw that the people were scattering from me, and that you did not come within the appointed days, and that the Philistines were assembling at Michmash, 12 therefore I said, 'Now the...

Read about an editorial in the WSJ a few hours ago.
A pair of public health experts from Stanford, Drs. Eran Bendavid and Jay Bhattacharya, warn Americans in a Wall Street Journal editorial that the current estimates about the coronavirus' fatality rate may be too high by "orders of magnitude."
"If it's true that the novel coronavirus would kill millions without shelter-in-place orders and quarantines, then the extraordinary measures being carried out in cities and states around the country are surely justified," they wrote. "But," and what a big one it is, they add, "there's little evidence to confirm that premise - and projections of the death toll could plausibly be orders of magnitude too high."
    The...

  • Ephesians overview “ 3:14-19, Pauls prayer (inner man, Cain and Abel’s offering), part 9
    Wednesday March 25, 2020
When Cain brought his offering to the Lord, he brought the product of the ground, for he was a tiller of the ground. God had no regard for his offering, and it could be that it was rejected because it was a bloodless offering. However, God does specifically state this as the reason for His rejection, and offerings from the ground were perfectly acceptable for certain types of offerings in Israel years later, however, these offerings were always associated with blood offerings. Some theology emphasizes Cain's attitude while others emphasize the offering itself. What is clear is that there was something wrong with Cain's inner man.
Cain's offering, even if it was the wrong one, was rejected because he had no regard for God. This is made clear by his response to...

    Eph 3:14-17
For this reason, I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man; 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith

    C) Inner man.
Both the Spirit and Christ are working within. What does God tell us of the inner man? (soul, spirit, heart, mind, and flesh)
The soul can emphasize the individual or the subject of life. It can be the "what" or the type of man he is. He is ____.
The entire inner man: what, why, how / heart, spirit, soul, mind / intellect, will, sensibility, and conscience - has to be completely devoted to God.
From Genesis to Revelation, in the Mosaic Law, in the nation of Israel in the PL, in the church, in the Lord Jesus Christ; the Father demands complete submission...

What we are currently experiencing as the spread of virus instills fear in the hearts of people as well as the sole objective of self-preservation, is only a small foreshadowing of what is to come when God judges the world.
    Rev 18:14-17
"And the fruit you long for has gone from you, and all things that were luxurious and splendid have passed away from you and men will no longer find them. 15 "The merchants of these things, who became rich from her, will stand at a distance because of the fear of her torment, weeping and mourning, 16 saying,' Woe, woe, the great city, she who was clothed in fine linen and purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls; 17 for in one hour such great wealth has been laid waste!'
