  • Ephesians overview “ 3:14-19, Pauls prayer (inner man), part 3.
    Thursday March 12, 2020
    3:14-19
    C) Inner man.
    Both the Spirit and Christ are working within. What does God tell us of the inner man? (soul, spirit, heart, mind, and flesh)
    Tracking a number of verses in which the soul is mentioned, we noted that the soul can be hungry, thirsty, weary, loathing, grieved, loving, and dedicated. There are more we could look to, but I doubt that memorizing a list would do us much good. The point to take is that the soul is the subject of personal life.
    The soul is the individual, and what the soul is at any given moment is what the person is, i.e. loving or loathing.
    I also doubt that God is concerned that we...

    Psa 62:1-2
    My soul waits in silence for God only;
    From Him is my salvation.
    2 He only is my rock and my salvation,
    My stronghold;
    I shall not be greatly shaken.
    Literally, "Silence is my soul." or "My soul (waits) in silence for God alone."
    The state of my own soul when I read these lines was in such a state that they meant something deeper to me than a nice biblical line of poetry. It made me think of the many circumstances a Christian could be in when these lines would find a soul ready for their healing power. A hard soul is one that reads for the sake of being able to say, "I have...

    Eph 3:14-19
    For this reason, I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man; 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fulness of God.

  • : Ephesians overview “ 3:14-19, Pauls prayer (inner strength)
    Wednesday March 4, 2020
    I noticed something when reading Deuteronomy.
    Deu 12:1
    "These are the statutes and the judgments which you shall carefully observe in the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you to possess as long as you live on the earth."
    Deu 12:8-9
    "You shall not do at all what we are doing here today, every man doing whatever is right in his own eyes; 9 for you have not as yet come to the resting place and the inheritance which the Lord your God is giving you."
    God emphasized "carefully observing" His statutes and judgments when they were in the Land, meaning, in the kingdom that God had given them. Every believer in the...

    After the parenthesis of vv. 2-13, Paul again takes up the prayer he had only begun.

    Paul was the steward of the mystery. He was not alone in knowing it, but it fell to Paul teach it to the world and train the world's believers to live in it.
    It needed sincere and devoted men, willing to be taught of God, willing to surrender every prejudice and the preconceptions of flesh and blood, in order to receive and convey to the world thoughts of God so much larger and loftier than the thoughts of men. To such men - true disciples, loyal at all costs to God and truth, holy and humble of heart - Jesus Christ gave His great commission and bade them "go and make disciples of all the nations."
    That Saul the Pharisee and the persecutor, the most unworthy and most unlikely of men, should be the chosen vessel to bear Christ's riches to the Gentile world, how shall he sufficiently...
