Now that mandatory minicamps have wrapped up for the New England Patriots, we enter into the arduous month-long wait for training camp in late July. There’s still plenty to talk about, however. Each week, we will highlight a specific position group and discuss the storylines within it.
This week, Harris Rubenstein breaks down the Offensive Line. The Patriots brought in many players in the draft and through trade, so Harris talks how they will impact the team. He also discusses how the return of the great Dante Scarnecchia will affect the consistency and production of his players. This week, Patriots Beat begins a six-week long segment of roster breakdowns. Each week, we will highlight a specific position group and discuss the storylines within it.
This week, Mike Along breaks down the defensive backs, both cornerbacks and safeties. The Patriots have one of the more talented groups in the league, from Super Bowl hero Malcolm Butler to underrated safety Patrick Chung. And with the new crop of rookies, including 2nd-round pick Cyrus Jones, the group has the potential to be even better.

This week on the Patriots Beat Podcast, Mike "MikeNice" Molyneaux and Marvin "DJ Meze" Ezhan spoke about all the different storylines coming out of OTAs so far. With training camp around the corner, many big time Patriot players remain without long term contracts after 2016. Harris Rubenstein discusses the kind of money Hightower, Collins, Butler and Sheard would get on the open market if the Patriots can’t bring them back.

Football is back in New England, in a way. Organized Team Activities began this week and the Patriots now have three no-contact practices under their belts. Mike Alongi will break down the various position battles and who may have a leg up. Also, Mike will give updates on the number of developments in the Deflategate case.

This week on the Patriots Beat Podcast, Mr. MikeNice and DJ Meze were joined by Jimmy Toscano, who has written for CSNNE.com and Metro Boston, and got his take on what life could possibly be like the first four weeks of the season for New England if Tom Brady isn't able suit up, and how Jimmy Garoppolo might perform if thrown into that starting spot. They also discussed if Danny Amendola's injury and surgery played a part in him wanting to restructure is contract, as well as who poses the biggest threat to the Patriots in the AFC East.
Mike and Meze also spoke on Kevin Faulk being inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame and what he meant to the team over the years and how his style of play is still relevant for the team today. With the draft behind us, it’s time to start looking at how the Patriots’ roster is going to fare against the rest of the NFL. Harris Rubenstein looks at where the team is weakest and strongest and goes into where he thinks the teams biggest holes lie. He will also look at how the Patriots will handle all the expiring contracts they will be faced with at the end of the season
Adam Bogdan of Numberfire joins the show to give his expert opinions on the Patriots draft and what roles he thinks they are going to play this season. He goes through each pick giving his favorites as well as his biggest questions. Adam also points out who he thinks we should all look for in this class of UDFA’s.

The New England Patriots have completed the 2016 NFL Draft, so it’s now time to start solidifying the roster. The Pats took the first step in doing that this week when they restructured the contract of WR Danny Amendola. Mike Alongi discusses the ramifications of this move as well as gives his thoughts on the Patriots’ draft picks.
Jeff Kane of ESPN New Hampshire will also join the show to discuss the draft, Amendola’s contract and of course, the DeflateGate saga. Now that Tom Brady has been granted a two-week extension to file for an en banc hearing, where do we go from here?
