When I interviewed Tom Paladino in 2023, I had never heard of scalar energy and could barely pronounce the word. Tom, on the other hand, had spent years believing he was working with an entirely different form of energy, one he connected to Nikola Tesla, the sun and stars, quantum entanglement, human health, the structure of matter and, ultimately, God.
What followed was about thirty-six minutes of one of the stranger conversations I have had.
Tom told me he believed his Scalar Light instruments could rearrange matter, assemble nutrients inside the human body, work remotely through photographs, reduce radioactive waste and perhaps someday provide humanity with essentially free energy. I questioned him, wandered with him into Terminator 2, nuclear power, artificial intelligence and whether we might someday build a house out of a pile of mud, and eventually asked the question that mattered most.
How do you prove it?
Tom answered plainly:
“I cannot prove my work.”
That answer has stayed with me.
Tom Paladino died unexpectedly in September 2024 after suffering a serious fall that caused a brain bleed. Listening to this conversation now is different. His death does not make his claims scientifically proven, and I do not believe respecting him requires pretending otherwise. What it does leave us with is a recorded conversation with a man who sincerely believed he had discovered something extraordinary and was willing to explain it to someone who was not convinced.
I am glad I talked with him.
Some of what Tom says here is fascinating. Some of it is extremely difficult to believe. All of it is worth hearing in his own words before deciding what you believe about the man or his ideas.
I have also gone back and written a new posthumous account of our conversation, including what happened to Tom afterward and how I hear this interview differently now:

You do not have to believe Tom.
You do not have to agree with me either.
Listen to him make his own case and decide for yourself.
