On Episode 11 of PAUL POD we catch up with the elusive Scott Silver, screenwriter of 8 Mile. Paul discusses with Scott how he became the writer behind the genre classic including the first time he met Eminem and the ways he collected stories and background information to help make the film authentic. Scott reveals the original title of 8 Mile as well as his impressions upon hearing “Lose Yourself”, the infamous deleted ‘horse scene’ and so much more!

This week on Paul Pod, Paul Rosenberg talks with Eminem’s long-time publicist Dennis Dennehy. They revisit their first meeting with a young Eminem, the controversy surrounding various times in his career and how they strategized to respond to some of the more difficult press narratives. Dennis also talks about the release and promotion of 8 Mile and what went on behind-the-scenes leading up to Eminem’s Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame acceptance speech.

Denaun Porter, aka Mr. Porter is one of Eminem’s longest standing collaborators. The two were introduced through a mutual friend back in the mid-90’s on Eminem’s independent full-length debut Infinite and have been working together ever since. Mr. Porter is not just a producer- he has also shared the stage with Eminem as part of D12 and as a solo artist for more than 25 years. From the dingy basements and rap battles at Detroit’s Hip-Hop Shop to 100,000 capacity crowds at Lollalpolooza, he’s been along side Eminem helping to perpetuate his meteoric rise. Mr. Porter ventures to Shade 45, where he’ll share music and memories with Eminem’s longtime manager, Paul Rosenberg on the next episode of Paul Pod.

Eminem’s second greatest hits album, Curtain Call 2, gives listeners a retrospective on the last ten years of Mr. Mathers’ Hall of Fame Career. From Recovery onward, Eminem has ventured into new spaces - sober and ever so slightly matured from the constant lighting rod of controversy that veiled his entry into the industry. With songs like “Love the Way You Lie”, “Lighters”, “Walk on Water”, and “Godzilla” Eminem spread his wings to include collaborations with contemporary voices like Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Beyoncé, and the late Juice WRLD. Amongst Dre’s massive catalog over the years only “Nuthin' But a G Thang”, "No Diggity" and "Crack A Bottle" ever placed higher on the Billboard charts. Skylar Grey also produced "Leaving Heaven" from Eminem's Music to Be Murdered By, making her the first solo female producer of an Eminem song.

This week, James Larese, video director and creative partner for Eminem and Shady records that has been collaborating with them since 2009 to present day is Paul's guest. He has filmed over 20 music videos and countless other visual content with Eminem and this week Paul speaks with him on how he first started working with Eminem, what the best and worst parts of the process are as well as his deep love and respect for the City of Detroit.
