Pay Attention Brian

We sit down with TV personality Wes Kain and discuss all things construction, his involvement on the hit show “Vanilla Ice Project and 90s Hiphop

In this episode, we unpack our experience at the International Builders’ Show and break down the products that genuinely stood out — and the ones that didn’t.

We discuss:

If you’re a contractor, builder, or serious DIYer, this episode is packed with practical insight and honest opinions from the field.

Today we have a social guest! Check out @ravinbuilders for deck building content and pro tips!

Winter jobs, frozen fingers, sketchy clients, and the conversations you really don’t want to have… this one gets honest.

The crew talks about working (or not working) through brutal winter conditions, the difference between a good client and a nightmare one, and why communication can make or break a project. From supplier excuses and schedule expectations to quitting jobs, ruining expensive equipment, and dodging hard conversations — it’s basically therapy for anyone in the trades.

If you’ve ever worked construction, dealt with customers, or tried explaining delays you didn’t cause… you’ll feel this episode.

Lunch-hour jobsite talk turns into a deep dive on real carpentry life. We get hands-on with framing tools, talk high-end Ipe decking and real pricing, share hard lessons about jobsite safety and inspections, and swap true stories—from wildlife encounters to inspector run-ins. Informal, funny, and packed with practical trade knowledge you won’t hear in a classroom.

In this episode of Pay Attention Brian, we talk inspectors, innovation, and how the trade you love can turn into a grind. We also test a Da Vinci bridge live and explain why controlled builds might be the future.
