Prior to entering the Internet Marketing industry Bill spent 16 years in Corporate America primarily in sales and consulting roles. From Deregulated Telecom to Online Advertising sales and then into Deregulated Energy, Bill spent the majority of those years honing his sales skills and becoming a master practitioner on the phone.
Today Bill and his wife are top affiliates and earners within one of the largest attraction marketing affiliate platforms in the world. They are also amongst the highest earners within a separate top tier direct sales affiliate program.
Bill, along with his wife Michelle are committed to helping online marketers and home based business owners achieve success through coaching, mentoring and leadership.
I had a couple big takeaways from interviewing Bill. The first is his take on phone sales and overcoming the anxiety that accompanies most people when trying to call their prospects on the phone. I also loved the advice he gave on getting unstuck especially in your first year of business when things seem like they just aren’t working and your not moving forward.

In the eighth episode of Paycheck Rebel, I give a little tutorial on how to find the ideal customers to buy your product and/or services. Essentially this involves creating a customer avatar: a detailed description of your perfect customer right down to their physical traits and what keeps them up at night.
I felt it was extremely important for me to do this episode because time after time, when online entrepreneurs come to me for help because they are failing, the first thing I ask is to see their customer avatar. 99% of the time they don’t have one or haven’t really thought about it.
It doesn’t matter what business you are in; as long as you have some good or service that you are providing to another party, you must have a customer avatar in order to know who you are going to market to. With out a customer avatar, your marketing becomes very untargeted and its very unlikely it will be profitable.

Kate McShea specializes in training other home business owners how to leverage the power of video marketing and social media to create a large branded social presence leading to more leads and sales online.
Kate and her husband Andrew struggles for 4 years before finding success online. As of the time of this interview, they have managed to generate over 42,500 leads, and sign up over 1,000 people into their home business all on autopilot. They are also top affiliates in two online marketing systems and recently had their first 6 figure launch with a Facebook Video Ads Course.
Kate is a great example of someone that has mastered the mindset it takes to become a successful lifestyle entrepreneur. One of the biggest takeaways from this interview was how her and Andrew got so sick of failure, that they actually reverse engineered a successful online business and created a 90 day action plan to get the results they wanted.
Kate also drops some gold nuggets when it comes to getting paid for the value you create in the marketplace as well as the importance of having a mentor when it comes to growing your business from six to seven figures.

Tyson Zahner was a five-time MLM failure before he found success with video marketing. Within 9 months of creating his video funnel, he already had done six figures and became the top affiliate with a company. Tyson shares how he struggled early on but eventually overcame those struggles to find success by delivering value to others through teaching.
I wanted to interview Tyson on this show because he is a perfect example of how you can create a multiple six-figure business while still only working a few hours a week all by leveraging tools and systems on the internet (so you’re note trading time for dollars). Tyson also has some golden insight when it comes to mindset, what it takes to be successful and the process of mastering a new skill.
I met Tyson in February 2015 at the Traffic & Conversion Summit in San Diego and was in awe of how his brain worked when it came to building these different money making funnel machines with his CRM software. I think you are going to get a lot of value from Tyson, both when it comes to advice on Youtube marketing but also a lot of the success and mindset advice he shares in this episode as well.

In honor of this being the 5th episode of the podcast, I am going to share with you the 5 Lifestyle Entrepreneurs that I follow the most. You’re listening to Paycheck Rebel
Hey wants up you rebel thanks for joining me for the very first solo episode of this podcast and its actually Episode number 5. To celebrate the fifth episode of the show I am going to reveal to you the 5 lifestyle entrepreneurs that I am following right now and that I consider most influential in my business.
Each one I talk about will have links to their websites that I will put in the show notes page which you can access by going to paycheckrebel.com/episodefive.
Entrepreneur 1: Pat Flynn
Pat was a former corporate slave who lost his job during the recession and started making an online passive income with a education training site he inadvertently started when studying for a certification.
From there he created the site Smart Passive Income and built a brand that eventually spawned a podcast and online TV show.
He is now one of the most well known bloggers and podcasters who openly shares his strategies & income results
His teachings are based on hard facts without a single ounce of fly by night marketing or magic bullet trickery.
Why Do I Follow Pat?
-There are a lot of so called gurus out there that claim to be making hundreds of thousands of dollars online when in reality they are struggling to make ends meet.
-Pat is the real deal and someone I trust when it comes to passive income strategies and what’s working now.
-He doesn’t try to churn and burn a massive amount of blog posts and podcast episodes instead each one is thoughtful and provides massive amounts of value
Pat teaches the long game of this business by providing value to others and building a business via an actual website…something you can sell
-Not just making money online.
-Not the new trick or magic bullet
Pat’s teachings are all about building a real business that provides value to other people and can make money with you sleep.
I think for anyone that is just getting started in this industry, Pat and his blog and podcast can’t be beat and would definitely recommend it to anyone asking me for a good beginner resource.
You can find him at Smartpassiveincome.com, on his podcast by searching for “Pat Flynn” or “smart passive income” in iTunes or on his video channel at www.smartpassiveincome.com/spitv
Entrepreneur 2 - Noah Kagan
You may or may not have heard Noah’s story.
One of the first 30 employees at Facebook and was fired personally by Mark Zuck before the company went public.
After Facebook, Noah helped grow mint.com into a multimillion dollar business.
Noah Kagan started app sumo and sumo me; two wildly popular websites, the first featuring online deals for digital products and the later a wildly successful site which offers free tools to help grow website traffic. Noah has created 4 separate products that have generated more than 7 figures.
Oh…and he is also a world renown taco connoisseur.
So why do I recommend you follow Noah?
Well quite frankly he is one of the most resourceful and insightful entrepreneurs I know.
He created the course how to start a $1,000 a month business where he advocates validating your idea in the marketplace to see if anyone will buy before investing valuable time and resources into your idea…i.e. don’t waste your time if nobody is willing to buy it
I find his podcast interviews fascinating as he often turns the tables on the podcast host during the interview.
You can find out more info about Noah and his companies at the following sites
Okdork.com, sumome.com & appsumo.com
Entrepreneur 3 - John Lee Dumas
So why follow John Lee Dumas and the juggernaut he and his girlfriend Kate have created at EoFire?
-Yes tons of content
-Yes tons of interviews with entrepreneurs and insights
-Yes he is a millionaire more than a few times over at the time of this recording
-But the reason I pay attention to what JLD is doing is because he has really mastered the craft of automation & systemization when it comes to being a lifestyle entrepreneur.
-From conducting interviews, to editing, to promoting on social media, to creating courses, blog posts, webinars, content…I could go on and on
It would be impossible for one person to do all of that by himself without the use of automation tools and virtual assistants.
John & Kate have done an amazing job leveraging internet systems and processes to do a massive amount of work, create their own schedule and work whenever and wherever they want to.
John has spoken before about how he
-Batches interviews
-Employees Virtual assistants from the PA
-Online tools such as social media sharing like Edgar, and customer relationship management tools like Infusionsoft
-He has really mastered the concept of automation when it comes to podcasting and content creation. It allows him to be everywhere by producing massive volumes of content.
-You can check out John at entrepreneuronfire.com or eofire.com or tune into one of his podcasts by searching for Entrepreneur on Fire in iTunes where he produces incredible content though interviews with successful entrepreneurs daily.
Entrepreneur 4 - Ben Settle
When people think of Ben Settle they think of email marketing and copywriting…and yes, he is very accomplished in both, but that’s not the only reason I’m putting him on the top five list.
Ben's teachings in his daily emails, his podcast and his monthly subscription print news letter he tends to go against the grain of what so many bloggers, podcasters and marketers teach…and that is to not be afraid to sell and fire your customers.
There is a reason he is called the Antipreneur and it comes through in both his writing and weekly podcast.
He goes so far as to preach the practice of repulsion marketing…i.e. getting the mushcookies off your list that probably never would have bought from you in the first place.
In a world where the phrase “the customer is always right” seems to be the standard, Ben bucks the trend and advocates firing problem customers and clients rather than letting them bring you down.
Ben teaches the art of storytelling as a tactic of crawling into your markets head and persuading them to buy.
You can find out more about ben by searching for his podcast The Ben Settle Show in iTunes or going to BenSettle.com.
And incase you missed it, Episode 3 of Paycheck Rebel featured an interview with the Antipreneur himself where we talk about the power of consistency, the reason so many newbies fail and how you can have a profitable lifestyle business by sending just one email per day.
Entrepreneur 5 - Ray Higdon
Ray Higdon is a personal development and home business teacher.
In the early days he cut his teeth as a network marketing leader. I know he still teaches home business owners how to become top earners, but lately he’s really broken though in the personal development and expert training space…especially with his recent launch of his product the 3 minute expert.
-I.L.T = Invest Learn Teach
If you invest in yourself and learn a technique, a skill, something that someone else is interested in learning, you can position yourself to someone else as a source of knowledge for that information.
That is why I follow Ray Higdon. He preaches self-empowerment and the fact that you absolutely can build an expert business even if your brand new so long as long as you are willing to invest in yourself with education.
If you want to find out more about Ray you can go to rayhigdon.com. And he has a podcast as well by searching Ray Higdon in iTunes.
Once again all of the links in this episode will be put into the show notes page which you can access by going to paycheckrebel.com/episodefive.
And that my rebels is my list of the top 5 lifestyle entrepreneurs I am following right now and I think you should be following as well if you want to create a solid source or even multiple sources of passive income.
Bryan Rider talks about the importance of standing out in a crowded market, how to find the right coach slash mentor, and getting oh so clear…with your failures. You’re listening…to paycheck rebel.
EPISODE SUMMARY
In episode four of the Paycheck Rebel Podcast, I invited performance consultant and lifestyle entrepreneur, Bryan Rider to come on and talk about his business! Bryan has a very interesting story in that he started out with quite a bit of debt trying to make anything and everything work with an online business. He shares how eventually overcame it and started his own solo consulting business helping other companies reach that next level in their business.
I asked Bryan to come on the show because he brings a different experience than that of an affiliate, network or information marketer. While he is a one man show for the most part, he does own a consulting business and is able to set his own hours, fees and pick and choose his clients so he is not subject to the limitations of a job or having a boss tell him what to do. In addition, this business allows him to travel the world and work from anywhere…which is a true example of a lifestyle entrepreneur.
I met Bryan about a year ago and I think there is a lot to pick up in this episode, not only from the standpoint of running a consulting business, but also why people succeed and fail when it comes to building an online business. He is a very intelligent person and I think you will get a lot of value from his insights.

Ben Settle is a seasoned marketer and well-respected copywriter. He is probably best known for his mastery of email marketing. Ben has worked with some of the top companies in direct response and internet marketing and now spends his time as a lifestyle entrepreneur creating his own hard copy newsletter called Email Players.

Chef Katrina van Oudheusden first introduced to the world of network marketing by her Mom back in 2007. Like a good kid she signed up because her mother told her too. But after joining realized that there had to be a faster way to reach more targeted people.
She turned to online marketing and for 6 years struggled to build her business. It wasn’t until she decided to fire her boss, Mickey Mouse, that she hunkered down and got serious. That’s when she created her first information product on Blogging and leveraged it as a way to get her first speaking engagements.
Katrina has excelled at creating powerful masterminds and empowers entrepreneurs with the skills to build their brand & business. She is a sought after Speaker & Coach that teaches others how to, “Build their tribes, by believing in people and answering their questions” at TheChefKatrina.com.
