The Penn State football team needs to bounce back against Northwestern in a desperate way this week. Through the first four games, the team's offense struggled to play with consistency and to put up points on a regular basis, even against subpar teams. Now, the team's defensive unit has imploded, after surrendering 42 points to UCLA on the road in the most embarrassing loss in recent memory. So what's going on with the defense? We'll discuss the issues and break them down on today's show. We'll also play stock up, stock down after the two-game slide to start conference play.

We'll start the show with the current state of Penn State football after the team's second loss of the season. Reporter Greg Pickel has put together news and notes about the team's postseason projections, the situation that ended the game for the Nittany Lions last Saturday, and of course, an early preview of Northwestern. We'll give you the news and notes off the top of today's show.

Next, we'll take the temperature of the Penn State football team as it evolves throughout the season. Which players are playing better than the team's 0-2 start to Big Ten Play? Which players or positions are living up to the current infamy? We'll give it to you straight in the stock up, stock down segment today, which includes some surprising stock up players. 

What's going on with the Penn State defense? 

Finally, we'll dig deeper into a topic we discussed earlier this week and put some facts to the team's struggles on defense and the growing game plan that teams have used against Penn State's defense to control the ball game and inflict long drives on the team. 

We'll discuss the pain points for the defense and why the loss of linebacker Tony Rojas is such a big deal for the Nittany Lions' defensive front. Finally, we'll discuss whether or not Northwestern can apply the same plan to this weekend that other teams have used against Jim Knowles and his squad so far.
