Cecily and A.Ron wrap Showtime’s Penny Dreadful in a white shroud and sob as they dump it in the River Thames.
A.Ron and Cecily are sharply divided on their opinions for the series shotgun finale, episode 309, “The Blessed Dark”. A.Ron would have preferred a more open ended finale that didn’t try to make half-assed an attempt to bring the series to an epic and apocalyptic conclusion, while Cecily appreciates the creative jam the team was apparently other and is thankful that they made the best of the situation they had at hand. Regardless of our personal feelings, this is the end for Showtime’s Penny Dreadful, and we the television watching public are the poorer for it. What did you think? We’ll be back next week to mourn our loss and ponder that what ifs with you and all our fellow fans as we wrap up our coverage of the series. See you then.
A,Ron and Cecily process their shock at learning that Showtime’s Penny Dreadful is being cancelled, and wonder how in the world things are going to be wrapped up, or even if they’ll be wrapped up, in just one more episode. I apologize for the tardiness of this podcast. We’ll have the series finale episode up tomorrow.
A.Ron and Cecily review their thoughts on the surprise penultimate (more on this later!) episode of Penny Dreadful, “Ebb Tide”. They RISE UP! against whore parties. They RISE! UP! against Billy Joel. Then they present their necks to Bruce Springsteen, before taking a jaunty horse drawn carriage on the way to being chloroformed and made into proper podcasters. All recoil in horror.
A.Ron and Cecily cover the latest episode of Showtime’s Penny Dreadful, “No Beast So Fierce”. Also, A.Ron does terrible impressions and Cecily recounts the time she was propositioned as a creature of the night at 8:30 in the morning on the mean streets of Indianapolis. Plus feedback!
A.Ron and Cecily break down the action in the rare (perhaps singular) Vanessa free episode of Showtime’s Penny Dreadful, “This World is Our Hell”. Ethan is done with forgiveness, Rusk is done with genteel notions of rules of engagement and law enforcement in general, and Ethan’s father is done with his son’s stubborn refusal to atone for the sins of his bloody past. Also, Kaetenay is sick of these mother @#$*ing snakes on his mother @#$*ing plains!
A.Ron and Cecily are impressed with the levels of craft employed in the latest episode of Showtime’s Penny Dreadful, “A Blade of Grass”. And by craft we mean both acting, cinematography, set design, and of course, witch. Rory Kinnear and Ava Green both attempt to blow each other off screen in a very tightly wound bottle episode, and we’re the richer for it. Join us as we try to unravel the complex mythology being built upon this season, with a little help from the feedback of our fellow fans.
Cecily and A.Ron are very impressed with the latest episode of Showtime’s Penny Dreadful, “Good and Evil Braided Be”. Full of intra-vampiral intrigue, our favorite werewolf being possibly bewitched by Hecate (with the good hair), surprising revelations and connections to characters and their histories, and an intriguing — and bloody — proto-feminist plot for world dominance, there’s a lot to like and talk about. Join us for a discussion of the episode with a little help from feedback from our fellow fans!
A.Ron and Cecily discuss everything that went bump in the night on Showtime’s “Penny Dreadful”, episode “Predators Near and Far”. Can Dracula control wolves, is Dr. Sweet too nice to be the Prince of Darkness, what is the nature of Ethan’s curse and relationship to Kaetenay, and why doesn’t Lilly just go ahead and rip Frankenstein’s head off, anyway? These questions and more our pondered by us and our fellow fans in the podcast ahead. See you next week.
Welcome to the first episode of “Penny Earful”, representing Bald Move’s podcast covering Showtime’s gothic horror series, “Penny Dreadful”. A.Ron and Cecily are both high on the premiere episode, “The Day Tennyson Died”, and share our thoughts and opinions Vanessa in recluse mode, Ethan on the Lamb, Sir Malcolm’s new sidekick, and get incredibly excited for the tease of the new big evil bad guy our gang will be squaring off against. All this and of course, feedback from our fellow fans.
