The schedule’s been out for the 2026-2027 season. It’s been examined thoroughly by everyone. The big deal for us is we get over seventy free games of Orlando Magic basketball broadcasted over the air throughout central Florida for the first time in about two decades. The sad part is we’ll only get it for one season. So savor it. Doc Rivers is in the Hall of Fame, Magic fans should respect that more than what I’ve seen. And we’ve got a little FIBA basketball window with Tristan da Silva and Goga Bitadze playing for their nations.

We’re in August. And without a FIBA tourney this summer, we’re in the really quiet part of the offseason. The NBA schedule will be released within the week, but with free agency transactions mostly done, there’s not a lot going on a court until training camp starts in late September. But we’ve still got plenty of Magic questions and topics to discuss.

Whatever Magic fans believe the 2026-2027 Orlando team will achieve this upcoming NBA campaign, one common opinion is being shared across the basketball media landscape: this Magic squad is expected to be a play-in team again in the East. The relatively quiet offseason from Jeff Weltman’s front office has invited these tepid viewpoints. But are those opinions justified? Will the Magic really not be a top-6 seed in this stronger Eastern Conference?

The Magic still have their 15th man roster spot open as some rumored names as signed with other NBA teams. Also, Desmond Bane is very underrated by non-Magic media.

UPDATE: Apologies if you’re seeing this episode appearing again in your feed. The show’s intro needed to be redone. Hope you don’t view it as a downgrade. It’s a sad time for Magic fans. This Orlando franchise is lucky to have had David Steele call its games on radio and television for all 37 seasons of its existence. Unfortunately for us, there won’t be a 38th. David has retired. And with his exit, that’s four enormous legendary voices with great importance to this team that have left us over the past six years. Dennis Neumann was fired during COVID, Pat Williams passed away two years ago, Paul Porter was forced out last year, and now David has retired. Those men are like the four horsemen of deeply impactful voice that now won’t be in our lives. That are irreplaceable, that have not been properly replaced, and thus this Magic fan base is weaker for it. Watching and hearing Magic games is worse without them. And we’ve just concluded Summer League. Now we’re really in the NBA offseason.
