  • Life Changing Movies & Thalassophobia | Ron #EP135

Ron joins us again and this episode starts mid-conversation as he tells us about his recent 25/1 win on the horses, which leads into a discussion about the Cheltenham Festival, the Aintree Grand National, and whether horse racing is becoming more popular with younger audiences.

We then dive into a mix of topics including high intelligence and memory, the strange time during Covid when GCSE grades were predicted, and the debate around Zoom calls and working from home.

As the conversation continues we get into summer arriving in the UK, sunbeds, fancy dress parties, movies that shaped our lives, and what we believe are some of the greatest acting performances ever.

Later we talk about cruise holidays, the fear of the ocean (thalassophobia), and Dan’s genuinely scary experience waking up alone on the front of a boat which explains where his fear of deep water started.

We finish by debating whether we would rather live our current lives or become pirates, before briefly discussing the current situation in Iran and how unpredictable the world can feel right now.

  • Trainers, Velcros and Fancy Dress | Ron #EP133

We might be in a guest crisis… but at least we can all agree Velcro in secondary school was a social disaster.

Episode 133 opens with a public service announcement — we’re officially struggling for guests. If you’ve got a story, experience or something to say, reach out and come chat with us.

From there, we dive into one of the most divisive debates yet: the worst shoes ever made. Ron relives the horror of wearing Velcro trainers in his first year of secondary school, and the chaos that followed. We also get into aimless outfits, whether suits are becoming obsolete, the rise of baggy joggers, Lidl trainers, and what to wear to an 80s/90s themed party.

A nostalgic, chaotic and surprisingly passionate episode about fashion, growing up and social survival.

  • The Arthur Wharton Foundation | Shaun Campbell #EP131

Before modern football icons, before global superstars — there was Arthur Wharton, and history almost forgot him.

In Episode 131, we’re joined by Shaun Campbell, founder of the Arthur Wharton Foundation, for a powerful conversation about legacy, identity, and restoring forgotten history. Shaun opens up about growing up as a mixed-race man, the racism he faced at a young age, and how those experiences shaped his purpose and determination.

We then explore the extraordinary life of Arthur Wharton — the first Black professional footballer, considered the fastest man alive of his era, and a rare multi-sport athlete who competed in football, rugby union, cycling, and cricket. Arthur’s football story is deeply rooted in the North East: he played for Darlington FC, represented Newcastle United in the very season the club transitioned from Newcastle & District to Newcastle United, and later joined Preston North End, where he received his first professional football contract.

Shaun shares how he discovered Arthur’s story and the journey that led to founding the Arthur Wharton Foundation. Through relentless advocacy, Shaun has helped return Arthur’s name to the spotlight — engaging global figures like Usain Bolt and Stevie Wonder, securing a statue at St George’s Park (where England’s national teams train), organising a minute’s silence at Rotherham United, and reconnecting Arthur’s descendants with family in Ghana.

This episode is an essential watch for anyone interested in football history, Black British pioneers, and the power of persistence in reclaiming lost stories.

  • Road Rage & Cyclists | Ron #EP130

One bad commute, a few cyclist hot takes, and a rabbit hole of global secrecy — this episode escalates quickly.

In Episode 130, Ron kicks things off by telling us about his journey to work this morning — which turned into his worst case of road rage yet. That sparks a wider conversation with Dan about road rage moments from the past and the everyday pet peeves that seem guaranteed to push drivers over the edge.

From there, the focus turns to cyclists on the road, especially the controversial topic of riders going two abreast and how frustrating that can be for drivers. The episode then takes a sharp turn into deeper waters as Ron reflects on the Diary of a CEO episode with John Kiriakou, opening up a broader discussion around Greenland, secrecy on the world stage, and how much we’re really told.

To finish things off, we revisit the strange and unsettling world of Jeff Epstein, including the bizarre paintings found in his office — most notably Bill Clinton depicted as a woman. A classic People Like Us episode: reactive, opinionated, and full of unexpected turns.

  • Sit Down or Stand Up? | Chris #EP129

From childhood nicknames to the most unnecessary debate of all time — this episode gets weird, fast.

In Episode 129, Chris Muldowney joins us for a nostalgic and hilarious catch-up as we dive into the pet names our mums gave us growing up — some affectionate, some questionable, and some that definitely shouldn’t have left the house.

We then reflect on growing up, sharing stories from Dan and Chris’s younger years, including some truly wild moments that only make sense in hindsight. As always, the conversation drifts into the absurd, ending with one of the internet’s most divisive questions: do you stand up or sit down to wipe on the toilet?

Light-hearted, chaotic, and full of relatable nonsense — Episode 129 is exactly what it sounds like.

  • Childhood Fears & Venezuela | Rob Coats #EP128

From trucker myths to childhood nightmares and unhinged internet moments — this episode goes everywhere, fast.

In Episode 128, Rob Coats returns and the conversation takes its usual unpredictable route. We start by diving into the world of UK truckers, questioning whether it’s anything like America — complete with bizarre stories, myths, and the infamous “lot lizards” you always hear about across the pond.

The episode then takes a nostalgic (and slightly unsettling) turn as we talk about childhood fears — from the legendary Bunyip, to scorpions, to reflections… including Rob’s own moment of terror after jump-scaring himself in his own window. We also touch on current events, discussing Venezuela, President Trump, and how some of the official White House TikToks are somehow both ridiculous and hilarious at the same time.

To round things off, Dan shares a story involving his dog, a fox, and the genuine belief that he was about to be attacked — proving that fear doesn’t always disappear with age. A chaotic, funny, and wide-ranging episode that perfectly captures the unpredictable nature of a Rob Coats return.

He’s been here long enough — we probably should introduce Ron properly.

In Episode 127, we finally sit down for a formal introduction to Ron, giving listeners a chance to properly get to know him and how he became part of People Like Us. From his background to his perspective, this episode sets the foundation for the conversations ahead and adds more depth to the dynamic of the show.

Along the way, we discuss the tragic news surrounding Anthony Joshua and the devastating crash in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two of his closest friends. The conversation then opens up into personal stories, a catch-up on Southpaw’s life after finishing his travels in Asia and now settling into Australia, and a broader discussion around privacy in other people’s homes. A reflective, conversational episode that mixes serious moments with honest catch-ups and everyday observations.

  • Belgian Chocolate & Bizarre Laws | Ron #EP126

From rare drinks you can’t buy in the UK to bizarre laws around the world — Dan & Ron kick off 2026 with a laid-back but eye-opening conversation.

In Episode 126, Dan and Ron sit down for their first episode together of the new year, easing into 2026 with a chilled and wide-ranging chat. Ron starts things off by talking about his favourite drink, Smirnoff North — not banned, just impossible to get hold of in the UK — before the conversation naturally drifts into the simple brilliance of a glass of Baileys.

The episode then takes a nostalgic turn as Ron shares stories from a school trip to Belgium, leading into a discussion on whether Belgian chocolate really is superior — or if it’s all just clever marketing. From there, things get more philosophical as Dan and Ron explore some of the strangest laws in the world, including the UK’s approach to free speech and America’s controversial “Stand Your Ground” law in Florida.

To round things off, the lads talk about what 2026 holds, personal plans for the year ahead, and whether Ron might finally be booking a holiday. A relaxed, thoughtful, and occasionally bizarre episode — the perfect way to start the year.
