People Who Knew Me

In this bonus episode of People Who Knew Me, Writer and Director Daniella Isaacs revisits the series and its existential themes with cast members Rosamund Pike, Kyle Soller and Isabella Sermon. Bolstered by her revelation to Paul, Connie takes Claire to the beach to tell her the truth about her Dad. Overwhelmed by the shocking discovery, Claire runs away for the night without telling Connie. Connie finds Drew on Facebook, and tells him she is alive and has a daughter. She wakes up from her mastectomy surgery disorientated and is relieved to find Claire by her side.

A friendship with her sassy work colleague highlights the failings of her marriage, further compounded by Drew's restaurant falling through. Claire shaves Connie’s hair as the chemotherapy takes hold. The loss of her hair takes Connie straight back to her life in New York, to Emily's new 'work haircut' and first job, a job she was forced to take so Drew could fulfil his dream of owning his own restaurant. That one deciding coin toss, the catalyst which prompted the lying and deceit that would lead to the end of their marriage.

Connie starts chemotherapy and tries to ignore the advances of fellow patient, Paul, as she delves back to her past to try to figure out where it all went wrong with Emily’s husband Drew. She recalls them meeting at NYU in 1993, their whirlwind romance, her choosing Drew over Gabe, their marriage and bohemian life. It was all so happy and full of promise. Back in the present, Paul gives some good advice to Connie about letting people in. This leads her to faces the difficult moment of telling Claire she has cancer.
