In doing my inner child work, I realized that from about age 8 I took this message:

Be perfect or be rejected.

By God, by family, by church, by friends.

Sure, you could repent and make things right…

But you were always one sin or misstep away from being rejected.

It’s not a fun way to live.

As I’ve come to know God better, I believe he is unfairly generous with us.

He’s looking for us to come to Him and know Him…

Not waiting for us to make a mistake to punish us.

So, I’ve decided to trust that unfair generosity…

And try to give it to myself, my wife, my kids, my friends and the people I interact with.

It feels very freeing and powerful.
