What if the biggest act of self-betrayal isn’t the major life decisions, but the tiny, daily moments where you stop choosing yourself?
A moment from the podcast archive that I felt deserved to be heard again.
My guest Becca Eve Young, former corporate strategist turned transformational coach and author of It’s Gonna Get Messy, shares why self-doubt is the inevitable result of ditching the script society handed you, and the surprisingly simple practice of micro-trusts that rebuilds your self-confidence from the inside out.
Press play to hear why every small moment of people-pleasing chips away at your self-trust, and what it actually takes to stop abandoning yourself.

“You can’t slow down. You can’t afford to slow down.”
That was the voice in Dr Jessica Houston’s head for years. From the outside, she looked successful. On the inside, she was carrying far more than anyone could see: the fear of ever being broke again, the need to be liked, and a habit of saying yes to everyone except herself.
Perhaps you know that voice too. Many high achievers do. It tells you that slowing down is risky, that saying no will make people think less of you, and that the moment you reach the top of one mountain, the next one is already waiting. And because we hear it every day, we rarely stop to ask whether it is actually telling us the truth.
In this conversation, Jessica and I explore how to hear what we are really telling ourselves, how to challenge it, and how to build success that supports your life rather than competes with it.
In this episode, you’ll discover how to:
Press play to change your relationship with your inner dialogue and create a version of success that truly serves you.

What if the identity you’ve built your whole career around was based on an arbitrary decision you made as a child?
A moment from the podcast archive that I felt deserved to be heard again.
My guest Kate Kayaian, former professional concert cellist turned career coach and author of Beyond Potential, shares why so many high achievers feel trapped in an identity that no longer fits, and the first two steps to creating distance from it and redefining what else is possible.

What if the most important action you take today happens before you do anything at all?
For 650 episodes, I have kept returning to one word: mastery. In episode 150, I saw it as a journey. In episode 550, I described three aspects of it: mind mastery, flow mastery and living mastery. For this milestone, I return to the story of the Chinese bamboo tree from episode 400 and look at it from below the ground, where something quieter has been growing all along.
* Discover why awareness is the root beneath mind, flow and living mastery, and why it is so hard to master what we do not notice.
* Try three simple invitations to practise this week: find the moment, listen to the signal and make the choice.
Press play, and notice what you notice.

Have you ever felt that, despite doing everything right, something is missing? That you're successful on paper, and still flat inside?
My guest today is Jon Symes, who has spent over 20 years helping leaders and midlife men see the invisible stories running quietly beneath their choices. Stories about success, love, safety and masculinity, absorbed so early in life that we mistake them for truth rather than recognising them as the belief structures they actually are. As Jon puts it, most of our stories arrived with us in disguise.
We explore where these stories come from, childhood moments, family patterns, culture, the heroes we watched on screen as boys, and why simply seeing the pattern is often not enough to change it. Jon shares the practical work of finding a story, understanding where it took root, and choosing differently for the next chapter of your life.

What if you are not your thoughts, and simply knowing that changes the way you experience everything?
A moment from the podcast archive that I felt deserved to be heard again.
Today, my guest Ray Martin, entrepreneur, mindfulness teacher and author of Life Without A Tie, shares one of his six rules for happiness: become your own observer. Drawing on his experience of a 10-day Vipassana meditation retreat, Ray explains why the ability to watch yourself having a thought, rather than being consumed by it, is one of the most powerful shifts in awareness a person can make.

How much of your day do you actually choose, and how much simply happens to you?
Most of us move through much of our day without truly choosing it. Our habits, our emotions, our beliefs, they shape how we react long before we've had a chance to think it through. The real challenge, I find, isn't knowing this happens. It's catching it as it happens, and then choosing, deliberately, a response that actually serves us.
In this episode, Alan Bodnar, author of The Self-Driving You, walks us through how the brain's automatic and conscious systems work together, and why deliberate attention is the key to interrupting the patterns that don't serve us. He also shares how he uses mindfulness, not as relaxation, but as mental training, to strengthen our ability to stay present and respond rather than react.
You'll discover how to:
