June 04, 2020Off to mobile 24 hr ECG and the old Periodic Table fillerWell I can here myself improving on the recital of the Periodic Table, but I don't see that as sufficient incentive for anyone else to listen. June 04, 2020Early Greek AstronomersHipparchus and Ptolmey in one breath this source marvels at the amazing lack of factual evidence for these two and then goes into intense detail and factual minutiae. I think there is real genius in just how many fixes where needed to fix the "its all bloody spheres you know" method. They can't see that this convience thinking used for the heavens is used by the authors to doctor history. Oh well, I think if you are picky about facts and logic you are going to wind up with few friends and be seen as not as entertaining as anyone who can create a good story. June 02, 2020Mauritania 2Slavery and putting Athiest to death is a bit yuk in a Country that has 99.9 % Muslims 0.1 % Catholics, and thankfully no Athiests. It is even flatter than Australia and like Australia is just waiting for massive solar farms. There is lovely concentric mountains, called the eye of the Sahara. June 01, 2020Mauritania 1Mauritania is a country in West Africa, and caught my attention when studying Yemen. Apparently according to legend, Yemen was the source people of Mauritania. The main take home story of this crowd is lots of coups and being the last strong hold of slavery. MP4 recording MP3 recording -- -- Your browser does not support the audio element....more0minPlay
June 01, 2020New Zealand 2It started off with a rather boring description about how the Kiwi's generate electricity. The gloss over how Kiwi students beat Aussie students, but spend less money on education. The Kiwi fashion was delightful to read about. June 01, 2020New Zealand 1Well alot of this is news to me. We find that if you add Potatoes, Musket and Mauris you get all out Musket wars and a request for British control. 1788 -1840 New Zealand was part of New South Wales but got going seriously with a private company and the prospect of it being French. Can you imagine a Kiwi French Acsent it must be possible, and perhaps it would be ultra cute. The Kiwi political system gets away with one house of parilament, having abolished the upper house in 1950, but it is a real Frankestien affair with everyone casting two votes. My head hurts just reading about it, but it might be better if you were across the ditch. MP4 recording MP3 recording -- -- Your browser does not support the audio element....more0minPlay

May 29, 2020CalmReading and commenting on the little book of Calm. Somethings I do, but honestly it assumes you have plenty of wealth and time to spare. Other things are great to think about because they would create so much stress in the people around you. May 28, 2020Cameroon - ShrimplandWell I thought it was going to be a light read, but it wasn't. My mind hurts as to how a country can adopt English in one place and French in another since 1919 and in 50 years start fighting each other over it. I know I am not there, but I do so absolutely love hearing people speak French because it sounds so nice, and I am so hopeless at it. The CO2 burping lake is there. It is the sort of country geography you would make up if you had to do it for a school assignment. Breath takingly corrupt with quite a number of refugees coming in, but also quite a number also fleeing. And yes Cameroon comes from the Portugese for shrimp. I bet the little guy that was caught way back in 1492 had no idea that he would be remembered by a whole country.
