Peter Jackson, the filmmaker behind The Lord of the Rings, is the owner of Game of Thrones' Iron Throne, specifically the 330-pound prop used for promotional tours and marketing. It was previously sold to an undisclosed bidder for $1.49 million in 2024. Jackson's ownership was revealed when he loaned the throne to Colossal Biosciences for a photoshoot with their newly de-extinct Dire Wolf cubs. Both Jackson and Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin are investors in Colossal Biosciences and the Dire Wolf de-extinction project.
