My old friend, whom I hadn't seen in more than 20 years, came to Mass this morning. And what a fitting day to have him, because he brought his sons.

The life of Christ is a Living Water that flows from the Temple of His body, from His pierced heart. But as it flows forth to us, it also absorbs. He takes upon Himself our sins. He dies our death. He is the mystery of co-suffering.

God did not come to make a new me, but to make me new. Is there a difference?

God comes to us in the most surprising and unexpected ways, constantly reminding us that we are not stuck in a closed system, not stuck in a womb never to be born.

Can anything save us from the comparison culture more surely than the love of the Blessed Mother?
