The importance of volunteering was the message at the latest East Hampshire Volunteer Fair last week at the Assembly Rooms in Alton.

With thirty stallholders in attendance to show the opportunities that are on offer to anyone that would like to make a difference within their communities.

£430,000 has been ear marked to fund community projects through its EHDC councillor grant scheme.

Also included is a cross party initiative also includes around £100,000 towards enforcement officers focusing on littering and parking issues.

Council tax will rise by £5 per household for a Band D property taking those households to an extra £151.92. Cllr Louisson says “this does not even cover the costs added by inflation this year”

Saturday 8 March is International Women's Day.

The organisation working in Hampshire, Stop Domestic Abuse, says that domestic violence is overwhelmingly against women. 

They support anyone (women, men and children) facing domestic abuse - which can be physical but also emotional, financial, controlling or stalking, with expert and experienced services,  including how to remain safe in a continuing relationship.

Czarina Jacobs, Operations Manager, spoke to Mike Waddington.
