Biography

Asher’s notable musical career began with classical violin training at the tender age of 2—leading to his first formal concert with the Buffalo Philharmonic at 13.

Since then, Asher’s improvisation expertise across multiple genres has inspired an innovative career as a cutting-edge electric violinist. Asher’s engaging soloist performances have taken him to iconic venues such as Madison Square Garden, Hammerstein Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Jacob Javits Center. His diverse multicultural repertoire has garnered acclaim across four continents. Asher’s high-energy shows have been featured live on PBS and have made headlines on major media outlets such as CNN, WABC, NBC, and the New York Post.

In 2014, Asher lived a musician’s nightmare when he confronted health challenges that impacted his mobility. Refusing to accept defeat, he rebuilt his musical prowess to a new level.  This harrowing experience inspired him to reinvent himself as a dancing violinist. In only a few months, Asher learned to merge hip hop, pop, EDM, rock, and other genres with breakdancing and acrobatic choreography. His live performances now reflect his unstoppable spirit and joy!

With a growing fan base, Asher is working to influence societal norms and conventional thinking about musical performance, helping to break down social and physical barriers. His latest single, Atlantis, released by Kobalt Music Group has been described as a “high-octane hit” and can be streamed via iTunes and all other major platforms. Asher is currently in the studio working on releasing his next original album.

We have the interesting situation of having a large backlog of new music written during the Pandemic

The original idea was to create the MEGA album "Catfished & Da Hard Boyz", but this 9-hour album was too large for the market.

So we have spent the last 3 months figuring out how to pull the gems out of my vault.

The 1st project coming out of this backlog of music is the August 26th release PEG4EVER

This 1.5-hour album is still a "MEGA" effort.  The best tracks from "Catfished" were culled for this 2022 album.

This session is for our next Project 2023 "Trash Wave" Hybrid of Punk Aesthetic and New Wave

What you are hearing is a live StreamYard.com stream from our Expansive Sound Studio of "stream of consciousness jam style music.

Our sound or style of music is called "Expansive Sound", a combination of New Wave, Punk, Fusion Jazz, Progressive Rock, Spoken Word, and Experimental.

We are also a DAWless producer.  The Digital Audio Workstation is a great tool that has reduced or eliminated the Studio stranglehold on creativity for many musicians.  However, we have always loved the stream of consciousness and jam style nature of "Hardware" recording.

So from the beginning of PEG we have used Hardware recorders.  Starting with the Zoom R16 moving to the R24...utilizing the L-8 Live Track for Podcasting (and finishing Akai Force compositions)  and now primarily using the new Zoom R-20 Multi Track system to capture our Expansive Sound Experiences.

In our mid twenties, we were enamored with Tascam 4 Track recorders and sequencers.  We utilized them with a Roland D-5 to create our 1st solo compositions in the late 80s and early 90s,

Phantom Electric Ghost Interviews Gema Elagua

Gema Elagua is a Spanish singer songwriter.  She composes her own music and performs  singing with her Spanish guitar and keyboard. From an early age she knew she wanted to become an artist, in fact she studied fine arts in the university, so that gives her a broader perspective about how she would like to run her music project in the future.

She loves to share her talent for music improvisation but also loves to show the process, the imperfections,  showing us as we are. That is the reason the audience can find in her Instagram content ( @Gema.Elagua )  rough recordings, mostly from her working process.

Nevertheless, she has a lot of songs that she wanted to be recorded in studio, so she is going to record her first album in Madrid, it will be realesed the next year. It would contain the work she has been working on these last years, full of different genres and influences she has got in all these years as a songwriter.
