Good morning. It’s Monday, August 12th. Of all of the inmates released from Philadelphia jails from April 2017 to April 2018, 73 percent were discharged when the cashier’s office was closed, an Inquirer investigation found. That means many of them were released without any identification, cash, phone, or other possessions for hours or even days. Experts say this practice can lead many people right back to jail because the first 72 hours after release are critical.
