The local church is commanded to keep two ordinances - baptism and the Lord's Supper.  Today we look at the Lord's Supper as Jesus instituted it in the Upper Room with His disciples, and examine four "looks" that are inherent in it.

To purchase our redemption, Jesus had to drink of "the cup."  Just what was this cup mentioned so many times throughout scripture?  From Mark's gospel and many other selected passages from God's Word, we'll examine the nature and importance of Jesus accepting the cup of God's wrath.

Each life has its seasons, and each season brings its own complexities, levels of difficulty, temptations and opportunities for good.  The wise Solomon, after his lifelong search for the meaning and focus of life, brings us to this one conclusion: we need God every day!

God has always used invitations to bring people to Himself.  No doubt, someone invited you to Christ!  What makes a simple invitation so profound, so powerful?

What was it that changed the early apostles from doubting, misunderstanding, and sometimes prideful men into bold, courageous, and passionate proclaimers of the gospel?  The powerful ministry of the Holy Spirit made all the difference!

What does God reveal in His Word about the events to come during the Tribulation and immediately afterward?  In gripping and terrifying detail, Mark's gospel tells us about how God will judge Israel and all the earth in that day.  We should serve with a sense of urgency to witness to our world about the saving grace of God before it is too late!

In this passage, Mary breaks her alabaster box filled with expensive ointment and pours it on the Lord Jesus, fully realizing His coming sacrifice for the sins of the world.  We all have a "box" - something we care deeply for and which represents our life.  Are we willing to surrender our all, the most important things in our life, to honor and bring glory to our Savior?

In this passage, three groups of Israel's religious leaders approach Jesus with questions for the purpose of trapping Him. They hoped Jesus would appear rebellious to the Roman government, disobedient to the law of Moses, or to look like just another religious figure and not the Son of God. Jesus silenced them all with the truth of God's Word. That truth brings a responsibility to us all to heed and obey!

This is Jesus' response to the question of the some of the disciples concerning the timing of the fulfillment of His prediction concerning the destruction of the Temple. Jesus gives them several signs, all of which still continue during our day! We need to serve God with great urgency today, knowing that the return of Jesus is near!

Just a few days before His sacrificial death on the cross, Jesus once again confronts the Jewish religious leaders with their continued rejection of His deity and authority from God. He reminds them that "You must be broken on the Stone, or the Stone will break you!"
