Directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, KPop Demon Hunters follows the story of the fictional K-Pop group HUNTR/X as they fight Demon-kind to maintain the all important Honmoon. Group members Rumi, Mira, and Zoey face off against the Saja Boys to protect their fans, and the world, from a world-ending threat.

KPop Demon Hunters also brings us one of the most popular albums of the year, with performances from EJAE, Audrey Nuna, Rei Ami, and Andrew Choi. Does this film really live up to the hype, or is it carried by other factors like the soundtrack? Stay tuned to find out.

Out of the many showings at SIFF Downtown, we watched Irvin Kershner & George Lucas' Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, and are here to bring you our thoughts on this cultural classic.

Welcome back to another episode of Pinoys vs. The World!

Today, the Pinoy boys dive into recent classic, Shin Godzilla, after its 4K remaster was rereleased in theaters nationwide. As one of Japan’s two acclaimed modern-Godzilla adaptations, alongside Godzilla Minus One, to come out over the past decade, Shin Godzilla hit the big screens with a lot to say and a genuinely horror-type version of our favorite Kaiju.

Directed by Hideaki Anno (Neon Genesis Evangelion) and Shinji Higuchi, their version of Godzilla tears through Tokyo as the bureaucratic powers in government scramble to find a solution to stop the giant lizard from destroying Japan and the world. Does Anno’s story hold up after a decade from its initial release or does it fall flat compared to its successor? Stay tuned to find out.

Zach Cregger, of Whitest Kids U'Know fame, returns to the director seat to release his second feature film following 2022's cult-classic 'Barbarian'. After landing nearly universal critical and audience acclaim upon release, Lark invited us out to see the film and now we're here to talk about our thoughts.

The cast, led by Julia Garner, Josh Brolin, and Benedict Wong, tackle the real horror of dozens of children disappearing from a small, suburban town in the middle of the night. We chat with Lark about if 'Weapons' truly lived up to its hype, or landed in a more obscure area of recent horror flicks that left us more confused than satisfied. Released in 2009 by Director Mamoru Hosoda and animation studio Madhouse, Summer Wars follows Kenji Koiso & Natsuki Shinohara on their journey to celebrate Natsuki's great-grandmother's 90th birthday. Things quickly hit the wall though as they plunge into the online world of OZ and attempt to save the world all while living day-to-day with Natsuki's entire family. Is this Hosoda's greatest achievement as a director? Or do the themes of family dynamics and AI fall flat? Stay tuned to find out.
