Deer season is almost here so that means the 2nd Annual Pinstripes to Camo Big Buck Contest is about to roll. To kick it off we brought in USM Baseball Assistant Keller Bradford and Golden Eagle baseball mashing machine, Slade Wilks. The guys discuss last years contest, where Slade put a very nice Marion County buck on the scoreboard. This year, the Golden Eagles are looking to not only beat the reigning champs, William Carey, but they'll have to contend with a newcomer to the contest, Delta State University. The second half of the show centers on USM and Wilks' success on the diamond last season.

The group discusses the recent Whitetails Unlimited banquet and Matt's ability to win auctions, dove season opening weekend,and the upcoming velvet season. The discussion turns into debate on whether, or not, it's right to force hunters to report velvet season bucks for CWD testing due to the season only being allowed on private lands.

The 36th annual Mississippi Wildlife Extravaganza was hosted this past weekend by the MS Wildlife Federation in Pearl, MS and we had to check it out. Booths filled the Clyde Muse Center from wall to wall with just about anything you can imagine to satisfy your outdoor life. Aside from checking out all of the stuff folks were selling, we took some time to mingle with some friends. Ashley Jones (Swamp People) and Emma Powell, both of the group "Sippi Girls" joined us to shoot the bull about gators, snakes, and what's on the horizon for Sippi Girls. The second half of the show features MWF Director of Development and "jack of all trades", Robin Carlin. Robin talks about what's new with the Ganza this year and what to expect in the future. Also talked about is MWF's Hunter's Harvest Program and increasing the amount of donations this upcoming hunting season.

Herrington, the director of Hunter's Education and Boating Education, takes us through both classes and what to expect from each. New rules on Fishing Guide License requirements are discussed, as well as the possibility of some turkey regulations changing in the future. After a month off to finish up baseball season, the guys are back! And speaking of baseball, how about William Carey and Southern Miss? WCU finished 4th in the NAIA World Series and USM finished a game away from the NCAA World Series. No wonder they refer to Hattiesburg as "Baseburg"! After a brief chat about the end of college baseball in Mississippi for 2023, everything moves to spearfishing. After spending the entire winter preparing for the summer, Hunter is quickly becoming a spearfishing expert. He takes us through the set-up, diving, being able to hold your breath, and the kill. Also on the show, Ben has been drawn for alligator tags for the Mississippi Alligator Season in August and the guys talk about some upcoming fishing trips planned for the Gulf of Mexico.
