This series is dedicated to craft beer styles. During this series we will discuss all things from Stouts to Rauchbier, and everything in between. We will cover appearance, aroma, mouthfeel, taste, ingredients, proper serving temp, and the glassware that should be used for serving. We will do all of this while also interjecting our humorous opinions on the style.
In this episode we discuss Sweet Stout. Entrenched in a snow storm that won't ever seem to end we learn something we already knew... this is not Bob's favorite style, but Kenny sure does enjoy it. Peanut butter... yes, lactose... yes, chocolate... yes. What else needs to be said other than sweet stouts aka pastry stouts are delicious.

This week I travel to Market Garden Brewery in Cleveland, Ohio. My guests were Sam McNulty and Patrick Daniels. Sam is the owner of the Market Garden Brewery and Pat is the director of brewing at MGB. We discussed the inception of the Market Garden Brewery located in the Ohio City area of Cleveland, Ohio. We also talked extensively about water chemistry, brewing processes, brewery expansion, and what breweries need to do to set themselves apart from a rapidly growing craft beer market, not just in Ohio, but across the country. The beers we sampled during the interview were a Czech Pilsner, Hefeweizen, IPA, and freshly canned 3-hour old Hazy IPA. All of which were delicious.

This week I travel to @brickandbarrel and sat down with the owner Karl Spiesman and the head brewer Cara Baker. We focused on the traditional aspects of craft beer, namely their love of English beer styles. We discussed the difference in the Cleveland craft beer scene from the time they opened in 2014 until now. While we were discussing this amazing industry of craft beer, we sampled some phenomenal beers as well. We started with a Helles that was to die for. Next, we sampled a hybrid that included the Helles, Riesling wine, and tart cherries that was absolutely amazing. The hits kept coming as we drank an ESB next that was spot on. We followed that up with their flagship West Coast IPA called Bitter Chief. Finally, we closed the interview with an delicious Imperial Porter. Every beer was fantastic which matched vibe of the brewery. This is a fantastic place to visit, and I can't wait to return to visit their patio this summer.
Beers we sampled:

This week I travel to Great Lakes Brewing Company in Cleveland, Ohio. I sat down with Michael Williams who does brand coordination and marketing at GLBC. During this interview we learn about the oldest brewery in Ohio and how it came to be. We also talked about the history of the building as it pertained to Eliot Ness and the mysterious bullet holes that may or may not have been intended for Mr. Ness. We also discussed the 2023 beer release calendar that recently just came out which included a few new additions like a low cal watermelon wheat, a couple of new IPAs, a new stout, and the latest edition to the GLBC family which is a hard tea that is set to be released sometime in April. During the interview we tried some classics including: Dortmunder Gold, Conway's Irish Ale, Eliot Ness Amber Lager, Dank Demon DIPA, an experimental Hazy, and Barrel Aged Black Out Stout.
