TRACY — Pipestone Area Schools’ sophomore runner Rhaelee Heidebrink produced her second upper-half finish of the season at the 28th Annual Panther Invitational. Heidebrink recorded a time of 23:54, which was good enough for 16th on the 5,000-meter course at Tracy Country Club.  There was a field of 43 runners in the varsity girls division.   “She had a greay second half to her race,” PAS head cross country coach Mark Moeller explained. “Her effort wass there and she gave her all. MOORHEAD — Hannah Masselink is a freshman runner at Concordia-Moorhead. Masselink placed 42nd in a field of 87 runners during the Randy Smith 5,000-meter run in Moorhead. The University of Minnesota-Moorhead served as race host.  Overall, Masselink clocked in with a time of 21:28.7, which was the seventh-best time among the 14 Cobbers running.  The Cobbers placed second overall as a team with 69 points. WORTHINGTON — The Minnesota West Community & Technical College athletic department has announced the remainder of the football season has been canceled.  The Bluejays were originally scheduled to play Minnesota State-Fergus Falls this past Saturday, Sept. 12, at Trojan Field.  Additionally canceled games are: North Dakota State College of Science (Sept. 19), Minnesota North-Mesabi Range (Sept. 26), Central Lakes (Oct. 3), Rochester (Oct. 10) and Vermilion (Oct. 17).  The decision has left other community colleges scrambling for new opponents.  Blake Tucker is currently serving as the interim head coach, with former Pipestone Area Schools assistant Ryan Koopman on the Bluejays’...

Absentee voting for the Nov. 3 election begins Friday, Sept. 18. Those interested in voting early can stop in at the Pipestone County Auditor’s Office at the Pipestone County Courthouse at 416 S. Hiawatha Ave. to apply for an absentee ballot or apply online at the Minnesota Secretary of State’s Office at www.sos.mn.gov. The Pipestone Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) ended fiscal year 2025 on Sept. 30, 2025 with a deficit of 3,964. That’s according to the audit report presented by Matt Taubert, of Meulebroeck, Taubert & Co., during the HRA’s Sept. 9 meeting. Taubert said the HRA received a clean, unqualified opinion on the audit, which is the highest opinion that can be rendered on the financial statements. The Pipestone Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) is projecting an ,516 loss for fiscal year 2027, which begins Oct. 1. The budget approved by the HRA Board during it’s Sept. 9 meeting showed projected operating income of 2,740. The greatest share of that is 7,275 in tenant revenue. The Pipestone Area Marching Arrows were among 12 bands competing at the inaugural Harrisburg Tiger Marching Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 12. The competition replaced the Rosemount Marching Band Competition as the first competition on the Arrow’s schedule this year and will likely do so going forward. Drum Major Mackenzie Lange, an 11th grader, said after the preliminary round performance early in the afternoon that it was cool to be part of the first marching band competition in Harrisburg. Pipestone County has begun the process to update its comprehensive land use plan. The Pipestone County Commissioners approved a proposal from the Southwest Regional Development Commission (SRDC) to help update the plan for an estimated cost of ,000 last year.
