Wind gusts as high as 50 miles per hour at Pittsburgh International overnight knocked out power across the region. As of 9:43  Duquesne Light had just over 17-hundred outages. The highest numbers are in Baden, Independence and Whitehall. West Penn Power has more than 10-thousand customers without service in Fayette County, 67-hundred in Allegheny, 73-hundred in Washington, 23-hundred in Westmoreland, 260 in Beaver and 160 in Butler County.

The man killed in a hit and run on the Parkway West last night has been identified. State Police say Husam Shuibat was struck around 11:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes on Green Tree hill. The driver left the scene but troopers were able to identify the vehicle involved with the help of traffic cameras and information from witnesses. Officers have located the vehicle and detained the driver.   

One person is dead and seven others have injuries after two crashes in less than eight hours on the same Butler County road. A two-vehicle head-on collision happened around 6 p.m. on the border of Center and Oakland townships on Route 38 at Hoon Road. Three crash victims were flown to Pittsburgh hospitals. Early this morning, four young people with severe injuries were also taken by helicopter to city hospitals after the second collision. An SUV crossed the center line, hitting a tractor-trailer head-on around 1:45 a.m.

The man who wrestled a gun away from a woman in Kennedy Township Monday night shared his story today on the Big K Morning Show. 
Duane Mrazek [mur-oz-ick] was with his wife, walking his dog and stopped to talk to neighbors when a ride-sharing car pulled up, a woman got out, pointed a gun at him and fired a shot that missed. Police say 25-year-old Kayla Menne fired eight more shots at Duane's family and neighbors before he grabbed the gun.

Somehow, no one was wounded. Menne took a three-and-a-half hour Lyft ride from the Harrisburg area to arrive outside the Julia Lane home where her biological daughter is living with foster parents. The couple is planning to adopt the child.

Allegheny County Police made an arrest Sunday after Saturday night's double stabbing at Braddock Towers in North Braddock. Police originally responded to calls of two people stabbed around 8 last night. Both the woman and man were taken to the hospital. Police later determined that the woman, identified as Marquita Rivers, stabbed the man multiple times during an argument, including a stab wound to the chest. Police say Rivers will be booked into the Allegheny County jail pending arraignment. 

Jurors have reached a verdict in the sentence for Robert Bowers in the synagogue shooting trial.  The panel deliberated for approximately 10 hours over two days, staring this morning at about 9 a.m. The jurors notified the judge at a quarter after 11 they’d reached a verdict. With the verdict, the trial that started just over two months ago, will come to a close tomorrow with the official sentencing. It's been a long wait for justice, four years since the gunman killed 11 worshippers from three congregations at Tree of Life Synagogue in Squirrel Hill. It was the worst anti-Semitic attack in U.S. history.  

A big fire followed the catastrophic failure of a transformer last night at the Duquesne Light facility on Brunot Island. The son of Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala is charged with assault and harassment. Gas prices have jumped nine cents this week in the Pittsburgh area. The American Red Cross is asking for help in averting a blood shortage. Negotiations continue today between UPS and the union representing 340-thousand of its workers.

A building and three vehicles were damaged overnight by an out of control vehicle in Lincoln-Lemington-Belmar. Police say it happened on Apple Street. A GMC vehicle is seen on video sideswiping a car, hitting a second vehicle, spinning around a telephone pole, hitting the porch of an apartment building and ramming into a truck. From there the driver ran away. Bricks and a gas meter were damaged at the apartment building.
