Pittsburgh Steelers Podcast | Steel City Underground

Joe and Brian review the Pittsburgh Steelers 24-20 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday and whether or not fans should panic, and pack it in for the 2019 season.

There were still some positives, and even past precedent to suggest they could turn the tide, but it has to happen: and happen soon.

The duo delves into the possibilities, plus tells you who the scapegoats are for the most recent loss.

On today’s preview of Sunday's 0-2 Pittsburgh Steelers visiting the 2-0 San Francisco 49ers, Joe Kuzma welcomes former Niners great and Super Bowl XXIX champion Eric Davis to the show.

As a former player and analyst with the 49ers organization, Eric is the current host of the host of Bleav in 49ers on the Bleav Podcast Network and offers some unique perspectives on not only what the 49ers will bring to the field this weekend, but also some insight into how the Steelers may, or may not, change on offense and defense with the recent developments with Mason Rudolph and Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Joe and Brian backtrack to their final topic of last episode to discuss what was thought to be the impossible: the Pittsburgh Steelers trading for Dolphins DB Minkah Fitzpatrick!

The move sent shockwaves which were already rippling through the Steel City on Monday, as the team announced Ben Roethlisberger would undergo season-ending surgery on his elbow, handing the reigns of the offense over to second-year quarterback Mason Rudolph.

Now with Fitzpatrick entering the fray, the mood has changed in Pittsburgh as fans may have lowered their expectations on the 2019 season, but have no reason to feel down and out based on the recent news, as well as the talent on the roster and the schedule ahead.

The SCU crew breaks down all of these storylines in this week’s “Daily Steelers Grind”, even going as far as to give an outlook on how everyone will end this season.

Terry Fletcher returns with “What The Football” for Week 2 of the NFL season where she begins with the crazy pass interference call that was overturned and penalized the Steelers in their loss to the Seahawks.

Quarterbacks dropped like flies over the weekend, including the Steelers own Ben Roethlisberger. Terry talks about this, as well as the impact on other passers such as Drew Brees and how it will affect the 2019 NFL season going forward, as well as countless other headlines from around the league.

Joe and Brian preempt their Steelers/Seahawks reactions in lieu of the shocking, season-ending injury to Ben Roethlisberger.

With Big Ben now out of the picture the future rests in the hands of second-year backup Mason Rudolph, who will get the call to be the Steelers starter. However, the move will have a ripple effect across the team and organization in many ways.

The hosts discuss this while also piecing together some of their planned Seahawks postgame talk and chatter about any attempt to obtain a Miami Dolphins star defensive player.

Joe and Zach join up this week to preview the Steelers home opener against the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday at Heinz Field.

The hosts expect to see a different game from the Steelers this weekend, as opposed to the egg they laid in New England. History tells us that Pittsburgh should rebound, but there’s a number of reasons to be cautious with a prediction heading into Week 2 of the NFL season.

Joe and Zach also discuss a few more Steelers storylines heading into this game, including the trade of backup quarterback Joshua Dobbs.

Tune in as Joe and Brian try not to cuss (don’t worry, the show is clean) whilst discussing the numerous shortcomings of the Pittsburgh Steelers Week 1 loss to the New England Patriots.

Is there any one person or thing to blame? Probably not, but there’s still no reason to panic (just yet) as the hosts breakdown what used to be the good, bad, and ugly of the game. (Spoiler: it’s almost entirely ugly!)

Following Brian’s shocking revelation about not eating bread, Joe returns to get to the bottom of more important stories, such as those storylines heading into the first weekend of the 2019 NFL season as the Pittsburgh Steelers travel to Foxboro, Massachusetts to take on the New England Patriots.

The broadcast team wonders what this game may entail: will it be a shootout? Will either side be rusty? Will the game be exciting or chock full of punts back and forth such as Thursday night’s season opener between the Bears and Packers?

Regardless, there’s optimism that the Steelers may finally have New England’s number and come out victorious… barring a few “other” things don’t happen during the game!
