Pittsburgh Steelers Podcast | Steel City Underground

We are officially two weeks away from starting a new league year and NFL free agency as Joe and Brian discuss what the Steelers need to do on defense. Yes, offense is still a major focus – and the hosts dig into Pittsburgh GM Omar Khan’s comments at the Combine in Indianapolis. However, creating more depth on the defense is also very important.

Injuries happen, and having quality backups is a must, plus there are still some question marks on the depth chart lingering from last offseason that aren’t fully fixed heading into 2025.

The hosts talk about who the Steelers need to evaluate on their current roster, speculate on some cap casualties, and consider investing in upgrades through the draft or free agency.

And who is going to throw passes to those receivers? Could it be Russell Wilson coming back or a play to bring in Aaron Rodgers? Plus, thoughts on Najee Harris, Larry Ogunjobi, and more moves to be made, all discussed in this jam-packed episode.

For better or worse the Steelers are going to look a lot different this season appeared first on Steel City Underground.

Media and fans everywhere are in a frenzy, almost a panic, believing the Pittsburgh Steelers have botched their quarterback plans for the future. However, do we really know what their plans are?

Surely, there is a plan from a calculated Omar Khan, who has been aggressive in other areas. Is that plan to roll with an expensive veteran still or to bypass blowing money by operating with a bridge quarterback to get their to eventual long-term suitor?

The hosts also discuss the criticism of not taking a quarterback while Ben Roethlisberger was under contract and how that may be unwarranted.

Have the Steelers effectively filled the holes on their roster? appeared first on Steel City Underground.

As the NFL Draft draws nearer, the Pittsburgh Steelers still lack a definitive plan at the quarterback position.

The assumption is Aaron Rodgers will sign with the team in the coming days (or weeks), but the veteran quarterback is playing the long game without an answer, leaving many fans to believe Pittsburgh will draft a passer in a few weeks. That begs the question: At what point is drafting a quarterback worth the risk?

Joe and Brian discuss the history of draft hits and busts at every position, focusing on quarterbacks taken within the last 10-15 years. While the draft doesn’t yield guaranteed results, there’s some belief that you can’t win the lottery without playing the odds. Perhaps the Steelers have the same mindsight?

It’s time for Pittsburgh Steelers Mock Draft Insanity 2025! appeared first on Steel City Underground.

Joe and Brian are back with another 2025 NFL Draft preview as the hosts discuss an annual tradition of mocking the mock drafts.

Mock drafts can be found anywhere on the Internet. Some are better than others, and many are repetitive. Regardless, they are a fun exercise and this year’s draft predictions for the Steelers, unlike previous years, are all over the map!

See which drafts the hosts like, which they loathe, and which ideas they scoff at in this edition of the SCU Steelers Podcast.

Prediction time! Let’s mock the Steelers 2025 mock drafts! appeared first on Steel City Underground.

Joe and Brian are relieved by the Pittsburgh Steelers’ first-round selection, and they believe Steelers Nation should be, too!

The hosts look back on day one of the 2025 NFL Draft and examine all of the moves, including what they believe to be a wise decision by Omar Khan to pass on the available quarterbacks with pick 21.

However, that doesn’t mean that the quarterback position still isn’t on their radar. The duo discusses if Pittsburgh jumps back into the second round and who they may target on day two of the draft.

The pick is in! Steelers select Oregon DT Derrick Harmon appeared first on Steel City Underground.

After giving up their second-round selection to acquire former Seattle Seahawks wide receiver D.K. Metcalf this offseason, the Steelers only had one pick on day two of the 2025 NFL Draft. And they made that selection count!

Joe and Brian sigh some relief once again as Omar Khan selects a highly productive Big Ten running back, Iowa’s Kaleb Johnson, with the 83rd overall selection.

The hosts discuss how Johnson impacts the offense, an update on first-round pick Derrick Harmon, George Pickens not being traded, Art Rooney’s comments about Aaron Rodgers, and whether or not the Steelers should kick the tires on Colorado’s Shadeur Sanders – or another QB – on day three of the draft.
