Major season is officially underway with the first of the women’s Grand Slam events headlining in Texas at The Chevron Championship this week. Meanwhile, LIV Golf is in Mexico, the PGA TOUR’s teams event is on in Louisiana and the DP World Tour stay in China for the Hainan Classic.

After a week that will take its place among the great Masters in history it’s back to more regular programming this week with the PGA TOUR staying in south for the RBC Heritage, the LPGA in Los Angeles for the JM Eagle LA Championship presented by PlastPro and the DP World Tour in Shanghai for the Volvo China Open.

No surprise there is only one topic of conversation in the golf world this week as the ‘tradition unlike any other’, The Masters, gets underway in Augusta, Georgia. The team looks at the course, field and local chances with five Australians in the field at Augusta National Golf Club.

All eyes are firmly on the first men’s major of the year at Augusta next week, but there is tournament golf to be played first. The PGA TOUR stays in Texas for the Valero Texas Open while the LPGA switches things up with their T Mobile Match Play event at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas. And with 12 players in the Masters field, LIV Golf is in Florida for LIV Golf Miami at the famed Blue Monster course at Doral.

It’s three weeks away but The Masters is already on the minds of those teeing up in the PGA TOUR’s Houston Open this week. While they are in Texas the LPGA heads to the desert of Arizona for the Ford Championship, the DP World Tour is in India at the always interesting DLF Golf Club for the Indian Open and the Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia wraps up at The National in Victoria. In non-traditional golf the WPGA holds the World Sand Greens Championship at Binalong in NSW while the TGL will crown a champion this week in Florida.

As the dust settles on The Players Championship, there is plenty of golf this week on Playing From The Tips. It’s a light week of tournaments with The Players Championship taking centre stage in Florida while LIV Golf are in Singapore for their fourth event of the season. Meanwhile closer to home, the WPGA Tour of Australasia and Ladies European Tour co-sanctioned Australian Women’s Classic has been reduced to 54 holes but will go ahead at Coffs Harbour Golf Club on the NSW North Coast.

Sad news from home as the approach of Cyclone Alfred sees the Australian WPGA Championship on the Gold Coast cancelled for safety reasons. No such problems elsewhere in the world, however, as the LPGA heads to China for the Blue Bay LPGA tournament, the PGA TOUR remains in Florida for the signature Arnold Palmer Invitational and the DP World Tour is in South Africa for the Joburg Open. There’s also digital golf on offer from the TGL while closer to home the NZ PGA takes on extra importance with the race for the Order of Merit and associated benefits drawing to a close.

Action aplenty with two of the world’s oldest national Opens being played this week, the NZ Open in Queenstown on the Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia and the Investec South African Open at Durban Country Club on the DP World Tour. Meanwhile, the PGA TOUR is back on US soil for the start of the Florida swing at the Cognizant Classic at PGA National while the LPGA continues their tour through Asia at the limited field, no cut HSBC Women’s World Championship of Golf.
