The last few verses of 1 Corinthians 13 are often strenuously debated. Those of varying opinions divide over what is meant by the cessation of certain spiritual gifts, and when that cessation will happen. But note well that this final paragraph of 1 Corinthians 13 begins and ends with the word "love." In fact, the whole discussion of spiritual gifts is included to help us see how little weight they carry in comparison with love. Listen in to see how Paul argues this case ... and brings us back, again, to "the greatest of these" as he concludes this great chapter.

The final two chapters of Revelation remind us that heaven - wonderful as it is - is not the Christian's final destination. We are waiting for a new heaven and a new earth! And in that new world of God's love, certain things to which we've been accustomed will be marvelously missing; while other things for which we've always longed will be ours forever! It was written to a church with major problems ... including problems in the area of love. For several chapters, John has been seeing the earth come unglued as God pours out His great wrath on the planet. But what else is happening in that last day? What is going on in heaven? In all life's trials, Christians "overwhelmingly conquer" says Paul. Really? We don't usually feel like overwhelming conquerors, do we? Sometimes we feel like we're barely holding on in faith. Revelation chapters 17-18 describe God's great and final judgment on "Babylon", "the great city." But where is this Babylon? Is John referring to the ancient city proper? Or is Babylon a symbol, perhaps, for ancient Rome? Or does the answer lie much closer to home? Listen in and see!
