In a world full of bad news (even during the Christmas season), it is good to see a headline like this one: "Good News of Great Joy which will be for All the People." But we must read beyond the headline, and discover why the news is so good, and the joy so great. Read and listen along with us!

The book of Nahum is a prophecy of the Lord's judgment against the great city of Nineveh (the same city that had repented, a few generations earlier, at the preaching of Jonah!). Down they had fallen once more. And, in the course of his announcing God's sentence, Nahum gives us incredible insight into the character and attributes of God; into who "the LORD is." "Will God indeed dwell with mankind on the earth?" So asked King Solomon, with great wonder, when the glory of God filled the newly erected Old Testament temple. Is God really going to come and live with us? We have reason, at Christmas, to ask the same question ... and to be all the more astonished! Listen in as we consider just how amazing the incarnation of Jesus really is.

This is Missions Week at PRBC, and we are urtging ourselves to pray for, and give to, and go as missionaries of Jesus Christ. But what sort of people ought we be, if we are to go? And to what sorts of folks ought we devote the energy of our prayers, and the generosity of our giving? What is a true missionary's heartbeat? Listen in as we consider it together ... and be prepared to pray, and give, and perhaps go yourself!

In the midst of a long Israelite genealogy, the chronicler lists a group of men who were "chosen to be gatekeepers" in the house of God. Not a very glamorous job. But apparently important enough to have been included in Holy Scripture! Listen in and find out why these men were so important, and what their lives have to say to those who serve in not-so-glamorous roles in the New Testament church.

In Matthew 6.12, Jesus teaches us that our Father is marvelously willing to forgive us our sin debts. Praise God! But in the next verse, Jesus goes on to remind us that our Father would also like us, not only to pray for His forgivness of sins on the back end, but to pray, on the front end, that we won't stumble into sin nearly so often as we do! Listen in as we consider how we should pray against temptation and sin.Note that, over the course of the sermon, both the NASB version of Matthew 6.13 (quoted above) and the King James Version ("lead us not into temptation") are used. Sometimes we may think that our sins are so great (or so recurring) that God must be tired of hearing from us. And yet Jesus teaches us that, as part of our regular prayer diet, we ought to be praying "forgive us our debts." So God must want us to ask Him! And He would not teach us to ask for forgiveness if He were not also willing to grant it! Listen in as we consider this marvelous news together.

God is a God of second chances ... and of reaching even the furthest nations. Listen in as we considere how He used Jonah's second chance to bring about one of the greatest missionary success stories in history!
