Steven and Wayne return. Rejoice. It's a new episode for Plug In & Play and Wayne and Steven talk about the fact PlayStation is no longer wanting to make physical games. Digital Games are more expensive than ever and even when a company has to give out bad news, they normally compensate with something....which they don't care about anymore....
However, let's ignore all that talk about a settlement that PlayStation has been battling, and instead let's delve into this episode and chat about discs and what it means to be a gamer. Special Editions are glorious. There, I said it. On with the show....
So, when is enough enough?
It's Pokemon Day, and as much as Wayne loves Pokemon, there's an argument that what was originally 151 Pokemon is now well over 1,200....and Steven is playing the new Resident Evil and wondering whether it's a similar nostalgia exercise.
What do fans actually want? What makes people happy? When should a franchise call it a day? Is Assassins Creed 3 better than 2? Did Arkham Asylum get it right first time out?
For all these questions and more, listen to the latest episode of Plug In And Play
Plug in and Play kicks off 2026 with an episode that lets the robots take the wheel, as we dive into how AI is reshaping everything from creativity to everyday gaming.
Along the way we somehow end up in Gotham, debating what Batman can teach us about technology, ethics, and very questionable nightlife choices.
And yes, in true “future is now” fashion, even this episode description may or may not have been written by AI… but if it gets a laugh, we’re taking the credit anyway.
Steven and Wayne talk advertising; specifically PlayStation Advertising, with the arrival of the new 'It Happens on PS5' adverts currently hitting screens across the globe.
How much influence does advertising/marketing have on your abilities and decisions to purchase a product? Can you be nostalgic for a PlayStation advert? Well, apparently, you can - or at least Wayne is! We invite you to listen, comment, critique and let us know what YOUR most memorable adverts are!
Also, if you're thinking about sponsoring us, always welcome to get in touch! And yes, Wayne listened back to himself talking about listening to himself. And now he's reading this description in which he's realising he's writing about himself, in the third party, talking about listening to his own voice from the past. It's enough to make my head hurt. Need a lie down after all that.
Dive into the latest episode of Plug In and Play as we break down the biggest stories in gaming this month.
We tackle the much-discussed delay of Grand Theft Auto VI, exploring Rockstar’s reasons, the community’s reaction, and what it could mean for gaming’s biggest franchise. Plus, we unpack the repeated postponement of Terminator 2D: No Fate, investigating the quirks of modern release schedules and the challenges of launching across digital and physical platforms.
Whether you're here for blockbuster news, new releases, or a peek behind the scenes of game development, this episode is packed with insights, opinions, and a dash of fun.
Plug in for the latest updates, witty banter, and your weekly dose of gaming culture news.
As Steven takes some time for a special family occasion, Wayne decides to turn up, press record and talk about one of his favourite games of all time - Resident Evil 2. Harking back to the very first episode of Plug In & Play, which is still available btw, you can listen to Wayne attempt to do a solo show - and listen to his ramblings and inner thoughts on Leon's motivations. Enjoy!
(Don't worry, Steven will be back soon!)
Steven and Wayne are back, talking everything video games. Just sit back and enjoy the show. We always do!
This show talks Red Dead Redemption 3 (it could happen), LA Noire, more Rockstar, GTA6, PS1, MGS2 (I think...), Last of Us and a load of other things - including the lure of nostalgia and old school physical media in the younger generation.
Shoutout to DH and Game Scoop! at Geek Media podcast, we only hope one day to be able to invite you guys on for a chat! Thanks to everyone for such positive love and comments in respect to the show and keep em coming!
The latest episode of Plug In And Play helps us welcome October 2025!
As well as what we've been playing recently, we're also talking about the cultural impact of Grand Theft Auto 6.
Plus, is the gaming market becoming financially inaccessible for some? And, as Trump's tariffs create further problems for Skynet, can we expect The Terminator to help make things a little better? And lot's more things beside...
Plug In And Play is a show about videogames. It's hosted by Wayne Madden and Steven Fairbairn. But it's also a freeform expression of podcasting - the insane rambling is all improv - and very little about the show is known before the two men begin recording.
On this episode, join them for conversation about how hard games are, especially when you can't make the game easier and just enjoy it - as opposed to going home from work and throwing the controller at the wall. Plus, there's something about Michael Hepple and a little bit on Phil Collins in Grand Theft Auto. Less TikTok, more Phil Collins.
Enjoy the show, and as always, send us your comments!
Another episode of Plug In And Play
Steve and Wayne talk about how much gaming can resonate with you - whether it's a deeply moving study of character or whether there's just nothing to play and you're frustrated at a lack of choice - today's show is another talk about how gaming is constantly changing and evolving. Gears of War joins PS5, though not in Japan and GTA6 is rumoured to have a budget close to $2 Billion!
Anything can happen, but we do know one thing, we're all likely to buy a copy of GTA6
