It's the first time in 25 years that PNG has failed to elect a woman MP, and it puts PNG on equal footing with countries like Yemen and Qatar. The poor result came despite efforts by the international community to train and promote female leaders, and has female Papua New Guineans asking what is going wrong.

The Commonwealth Bank has been accused of 'serious and systemic' breaches of anti-money laundering and terrorism financing laws that could leave it exposed to massive civil penalties. But today's report cleared him and the former New South Wales Liberal Premier Barry O'Farrell of any wrongdoing.

Liberal backbencher Craig Kelly is welcoming Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull's decision to call a special meeting of the Liberal party room on Monday to discuss divisions over same-sex marriage. The move follows complaints from fellow backbencher Warren Entsch that he was 'ambushed' during a coalition party room meeting in 2015 that decided on a policy to put the question of same-sex marriage to a plebiscite.
