This week Dr. Cruse discusses vaccine inequity in Pike County and steps have been taken to get more vaccine from the state to vaccinate Pike County. He addresses the controversy over the use of cell lines to make the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. He reminds us that Wayne Memorial has the monoclonal treatment for high risk individuals diagnosed with COVID-19.  Finally he updates us on the COVID antibody study in Wayne Co and asks folks not to call the offices to try to participate.

Dr. Cruse talks about that day on March 6, 2020 when we diagnosed the first case of COVID-19 in Pennsylvania.  He reflects on how things have changed over the past year, both our losses and our successes. He talks about the vaccine rollout. He also talks more about an antibody study that Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers  is doing to estimate the prevalence of COVID-19 in Wayne County over the past year.

Dr. Cruse talks about delays in his second doses due to a mix up at the state level and that delaying the second dose a little is okay and maybe actually better.  Pfizer has loosened its temperature requirements. He also discusses mathematical modeling that predicts many undiagnosed cases and that we may be a lot closer to herd immunity than we thought. Wayne Memorial Is planning on doing an antibody study to see if there is a lot more immunity in our area than we thought. Finally he gives his opinion on what you can do after being vaccinated.

Dr Cruse updates us on the improving case numbers and improving vaccine access.  He discusses some studies on vaccination after having had COVID and new guidance from the CDC that those that have been fully vaccinated do not need to quarantine after an exposure.  Finally, he reports on some creative ways New Orleans is celebrating Mardi Gras this year.
