This week Dr. Cruse talks about decreasing numbers. He reminds us that Covid is still out there and while improving has not gone away.  In fact the numbers here are still five times higher than they were a year ago. He expresses a concern that if we do not get enough people vaccinated in the summer we will see another wave in the fall and winter. He updates us on vaccine clinics in the schools. He also talks about testing and vaccine initiatives WMCHC is working on with the local summer camps. Finally he addresses concerns that the unvaccinated are taking off their masks also and does that pose a danger to the vaccinated.

This week Dr. Cruse talks about new guidance that those that are fully vaccinated against Covid no longer need to wear a mask in most indoor settings. He explains why you still need to mask in some settings such as healthcare settings and public transportation. He also discusses that the Pfizer vaccine is now approved down to age 12, and the reasons to get your teen vaccinated.  Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers has vaccine clinics scheduled at the schools. The bottom line is get your vaccine so your life can return to normal.

This week Dr. Cruse talks about finally seeing decreasing case numbers in Wayne in Pike County. However the pace of vaccination here is slowing and he is concerned that we will not get to the point of really suppressing the virus at this rate.  He addresses common concerns in people hesitant to get the vaccine. He announces plans to set up vaccine clinics at the schools and the anticipation that the FDA will approve the Pfizer vaccine down to age 12. Finally he updates us on WMHCHC’s vaccination schedule this week and that they are now taking walk-ins.

This week Dr. Cruse talks about the declining numbers across the US and Pennsylvania, but they lack of decline here in Wayne in Pike County.  Wayne and Pike County have very high rates of Covid compared to the rest of the nation right now. Even with that happening the rate of new people getting vaccinated is low.  He discusses that the more contagious and more deadly B117 variant now  accounts for over half of all cases in Pennsylvania.  He reemphasizes the urgency to get more people vaccinated as quickly as possible here. He reminds us that everyone over the age of 16 is eligible for vaccination in Pennsylvania and tells us how to get that done.

This week Dr. Cruse discusses the gradual decrease in cases in Pennsylvania, Wayne in Pike County, and the nation over all, while deaths are still increasing.  He discusses the B117 variant outbreak is increasingly affecting younger adults with more severe illness  and how that points to the need to get younger adults vaccinated ASAP.  He tells us that new vaccine rates are slowing just as we are nearing the tipping point where we should start seeing vaccine benefit in case numbers.  He also reviews vaccine safety, including the Johnson and Johnson vaccine which the CDC and FDA just cleared to resume use due to the high benefit versus the risk.
