Dr. Cruse joins us to discuss a dramatic decrease in emergency room visits around the nation.  It's important to seek emergency care as soon as it becomes necessary and delaying that care could have a significant negative impact on a person's ability to survive something like a heart attack or stroke.  Dr Cruse provides advice for helping determine if an ER visit is necessary, and when it's important to dial 911 rather than wait for your PCP.  Additionally Dr Cruse explains why "universal masking" might be more effective at reducing the spread of a disease than "social distancing." Dr Cruse elaborates on ways that people who cannot or will not wear a mask can still be respectful of the health concerns of those around them.

Wayne County will move to the "Yellow" phase on Friday May 22nd and Dr Cruse explains what that will mean in terms of masking, social distancing, and working from home.  Wayne Memorial Hospital has opened a 2nd drive-thru testing facility in Pike County, and we hear how testing will bounce between Wayne and Pike counties during the weekdays.  More services are opening at the hospital and its satellite locations including physical therapy and non-emergent surgeries.  Finally, Dr Cruse explains the process of bringing a vaccine to market, and the steps which might be taken to shorten the time it takes to have a vaccine approved.

Dr Cruse discusses recent CDC guidance for re-opening the United States, and how there is some good, sensible advice contained within the document regarding schools and churches.  Dr Cruse also talks about the recent push from local officials to move Wayne County PA into "yellow" as the state moves towards re-opening.
