Elizabeth is Assistant Professor at the CUNY School of Professional Studies, and she teaches and writes about film, TV & 20th-century lit. Her new book on the cinema of Elaine May will be forthcoming from Illinois Press.

We’re joined by Cara Mantella, who plays Jackie Loomis, stealer of scrolls and keeper of secrets!
Cara talks about her career as an Atlanta actor, her experiences on Lodge 49, and her own fanhood of the show. We get deep into The Mysteries and also discuss Circles, the Season 2 episode featuring Cara’s unforgettable performance.
In July 2020, Cara was diagnosed with breast cancer, and she delves into what that experience has been like as well. We are happy to note that as of now, she has completed all of her scheduled treatments and is cancer free!
Cara mentions getting her second vaccine dose “tomorrow,” so we should note that the episode was recorded in April.
