For episode 2 we brought together a few Friends & Family who are also Super Fans! We are joined by Eric "Hot Tub" Plumley and Avery "Not That Avery" Miller to breakdown the episode. We also have Master of Lore Chris Mooney with the significance of the Aztec Pinball Game found in the Lodge 49 bar. There is a lot of Brian Doyle Murray love in this episode.

• Avery is co-host Jim’s nephew. He’s a recent graduate of SUNY-Fredonia and his Instagram is @averycharlesmiller. Plumley is a longtime friend of Bart, Chris and Jim and is a simple country lawyer and rock ‘n roll DJ heard via Burnt Ends on WYXR in Memphis. His memorabilia IG is @dothe45 and he has more fun as @electricfurtrapper

Brian Doyle Murray (Lodge 49’s Bob of West Coast Super Sales) as Lou Loomis in Caddyshack. You read that right "Loomis."

For our recap of Lodge 49 Season 1 Episode 1, “As Above, So Below,” we’re joined by the lovely and talented actors Britt Rentschler, who plays Beth, and Alex Klein, who plays Leo. We recorded this in February, so it starts out with some depressing COVID talk, but that quickly gives way to a rousing and entertaining discussion!

Lodge 49 may have gone off the airwaves in late 2019, but throughout 2020 and into 2021, new viewers have been discovering the show and celebrating it as a one-of-a-kind treasure. A recent article in Vogue and continuing appearances on “must watch” lists confirm the show’s staying power as a cultural touchstone. So the three co-hosts of Pod 49 decided to revisit Season 1 of the show with recaps of each episode -- something we never did before. And this time, we brought star power.

We’ll be posting these recaps in batches over the coming weeks. They all feature special guests, including cast and crew members of Lodge 49 as well as superfans with insights to share. In this intro episode, we welcome you back into our world and explain what inspired us to get back into the (Zoom) studio.

It is the first installment of Pod 49 Presents: The Middle Men Book Club! We were joined on Zoom by a round-table of True Lodge Luminous Knights to discuss the first two stories in Jim Gavin's short story collection, Middle Men. We discussed Play the Man and Bermuda. This is a Zoom recording so audio isn't awesome and we get family background noise, but we thought the conversation was way worth bringing to you all. We laugh, we reflect, we discuss themes, we equate to Lodge 49 and we share some about all of our magical journeys.

Bart, Jim and Chris were joined by:

• Jennifer G
• Ryan B
• Mike Q
• Chris M
• Julie F
• Claire ME (who also added the Lodge 49 audio drops!)
