  In this episode, we make the argument that Paul’s instructions concerning women are still relevant today. All women should display godliness through their good works, have modest conduct, all the while submitting to the authority of the male. It appears this is especially so even in worship. These commands by Paul stem from the order of creation. It started with Eve being made after Adam, and with her being the first one deceived. Paul strongly emphasizes order, not inferiority of women to men. He concluded that women would be “saved in childbearing” which fulfills the design of God while the woman continues in faith, love, holiness, and obedience.  In this episode, we explore Paul’s declaration of ‘his’ Gospel, the enabling of Christ for Paul to minister, and then we discuss what Paul was before conversion. He tells us that the grace of the Lord was abundant towards him, and he recognized that Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of who he believed himself to have been the chief. He said that he was given mercy because of his ignorance, and that he was chosen to be a pattern to those who would believe.  In today’s study, we read where Paul warns Timothy that some had deviated from the true faith, and had begun to teach false doctrines. They had turned to empty speech, fruitless talk, and vain jangling. They desired to be teachers of the Law, but they lacked true understanding, which is the basis for their false doctrines. Paul argues that the Law is good when it is used correctly, because it is meant for those who are ungodly, not those who are righteous. He also gave us a lengthy list that we went over and gave definitions to help us understand better. The bottom line is that we all need a Savior! Come study God’s Word with us today…

Despite the Jewish nation failing in many ways, God’s covenants and promises remain. God chooses ordinary people for His own purposes, not basing His decision on our own merit.  In today’s study, we introduce a new book study in 1Timothy, and we discuss several things such as the debate concerning whether Paul is the true author or not, how Timothy was the spiritual son of Paul, and the apostolic authority of Paul. He wrote this book while in a Roman jail, to warn Timothy and the church at Ephesus of false teachers, and their false doctrines. He encourages Timothy to maintain sound doctrine, keep a pure heart, a good conscience, and sincere faith. These things are foundational to true Christian living.
