Pod Stallions episodes

  • Pod Stallions 124: David Lynch

The Elephant Man, Frank Booth, Agent Cooper and Bob, Sailor and Lula and the big sweaty Baron with bad skin. These are just some of the denizens in the film world of David Lynch. It’s safe to say the works of Lynch weren’t everyone’s cup of coffee.
And that’s as it should be, with most left-of-center output. But his impact can’t be denied, and as weirdos and movie freaks ourselves, it seemed appropriate to celebrate the late auteur. (Plus, the man himself is someone we’d happily spend time with).
But don’t think this is the snooty, art-house ep of PS; we still manage to get Richard Lynch and 80s underwater monster flicks in, too. The owls are not what they seem, but this is a fine cup of Pod Stallions. Drink full and descend!

  • Pod Stallions 122: Werewolves Part 1

The moon is full, there's a howling wind, and like a couple of dummies we've decided to stay ON the moors, so the scene is set for some werewolf celebrations. On the Mt. Rushmore of monsters, the werewolf/Wolf Man is a sad, sexy, misunderstood beast who's overdue for some Pod Stallions love. From Groovy Ghoulies to Henry Hull, stopping off at Howlings, Twilights and Zevon, we cover all the beasts of burden in our fang-tastic new episode. Werewolf? THERE wolf!

  • Pod Stallions 121: The Alien Franchise

What has two arms, two mouths and gets you right in the chest?

It's ALIEN, of course, and since 1979 it's titular character has appeared (tho altered) in multiple big budget flicks, with varying and often disappointing results. With the new Alien: Romulus currently face-hugging the public in a retro way, we thought we'd cover the good, the bad and the Italian (yes, we get to the ALIEN rip-offs!) in our latest convo. Everyone can hear you scream in cyberspace from listening to the ALIEN-ating new episode of Pod Stallions!

  • PodStallions 119: Joe Flaherty Tribute

Life is swings and roundabouts, we are lucky to live through times enjoying brilliant art, but as the years creep on, we lose more of the artists. Joe Flaherty gave us more laughs than can be counted, and because he means so much to us we do our best to honour him, his many characters and his dependability in the latest Pod Stallions.

We, um, also manage to squeeze in commercials featuring Doctor Who actors, Lifeforce, and the cinematic oeuvre of Steve Railsback.

    It'll all make sense. Enjoy.

Pod Stallions 116: Burger King Onion Ring Fireside Chat

If we Letterboxed our viewing habits in 2023, we're estimating between us we've spent close to one full month (maybe one with 28 days) watching everything from TV series to movies, highbrow to lowbrow and all points in between. We thought it'd be fun to wind 2023 down by recommending titles to the most discerning listeners in podcastville. So it's another fine episode of 'What We've Been Watching!' on Pod Stallions. Hope it helps!

  • Pod Stallions 115: Doctor Who at 60

We're not ones to dwell on the passage of time (and let's face it, no one wants that shock to the system) but it IS hard to believe that it's now been 60 years since two schoolteachers went to that junkyard for the trip of a lifetime, and Doctor Who began. Luckily, according to the Doctor, time is immaterial. But let's throw caution to the wind and have a jumbo sized PS episode celebrating Adventures Thru Time and Space. It's safe to say DW is embraced and referenced more by us than any other topic, and it's been a long, strange journey. Reverse the polarity, Sonics at the ready, Allons-y!
Hosted by Jason Lenzi and Brain Heiler

Topics discussed: Doctor Who, Daleks, Doctor Who Fan Clubs, Tardis Model kit, Matt Smith, Tom Baker, Dapol, Sylvestor McCoy, Colin Baker, BBC, TVO, David Tennant, Bif Bang Pow, Suhtek, Mechanoids, Warriors of the Deep, Silurians, Sea Devils, JNT, Peter Davison, Annuals, Doctor Who magazine, Steven Moffat, Amy Pond,

Anyone who knows the Pod Stallions boys knows our love of Halloween borders on the obsessive. In fact, it's so strong that one single topic isn't enough for our final Halloween episode. So this one's a Trick R Treat Grab Bag of sugary, monster-loving goodness. Movies, costumes, candy and heck, even the weather get covered.

Join us, won't you, for our 2023 Halloween farewell by overdosing on scary goodness. And try not to think about the next Halloween being 365 days away.
