Oil up 22%, Gold down 10%, iron ore up 7% and most metals well up this year so far. Today we talk about Broker Research and the bias to optimism and why. Bond yields continue to rise giving banks a boost and QLD were not enough to stop SYD and other travel related companies rallying.  ASX 200 up 3.1% for the year so far and quarter.

A solid end to the quarter with the market up 78 at midday - which makes up for the 98 point reversal yesterday. Rates keep going up, the Archegos hedge fund debacle gives us a window on how the market can go wrong in a blink without warning (although we seem to have survived), we look at the bank sector ahead of results and publish the results dates, and we look at the ALL TECH sector, how top heavy it is and how almost every broker target price in the sector is below the current share price and why - there are a few lessons from that.

  • End of Day Podcast - Tuesday 30th March

Catch up with all the action today from the Marcus Today Team. The ASX 200 fell 61 points today to 6738. 10-year bond yields rose to 1.77% hitting growth stocks again especially in second liners. Iron ore miners fell hard led by BHP and banks flat lined. Plenty of discussion about Archegos and the fall out which seems to be confined to two major banks for the time being. Plenty more to come on this.

We're flopping from a good open this morning - we have a look at the Archegos hedge fund meltdown which has overtones of the GFC - we look at relative versus actual recommendations and we get some wisdom from Men in Black. We also look at some buy and sell signals. Not much else to concern us at the moment, unless hedge funds or interest rates start to concern the herd more than they do today.

  • End of Day Podcast Monday 29th March

Catch up with all the action today from the Marcus Today Team. The ASX 200 fell 25 points today to 6799. The market was spooked after a strong opening by two issues, the three day lockdown of Brisbane and the growing story from the US of hedge funds, margin calls and investment bank exposure to huge margin call sell downs on Friday. So far Nomura and Credit Suisse have mafe announcements on expected losses from the hedge fund unwind. Locally MOC rallied 62% on a bid from REA and oil prices dip as Ever Given refloated.
