This recording begins with a special ceremony ordaining David Bevilacqua as Pastor and Michael Anthony as Deacon. Following the ordinations, Pastor Mat shared a message entitled "The Charge." The word “charge” implies a divine, constant, compelling, and lifetime command. In Second Timothy, we learn that the Apostle Paul's charge to Pastor Timothy actually applies to all of us in the Body of Christ.
The Word of the Lord through the prophet Malachi in Chapter Two is directed at a severely wicked priesthood. They are warned that if they refused to take their sin to heart and repent, they would be soundly judged. They devalued God's law and stumbled the people. One way it manifested was in how they treated their marriages. In this powerful message, Pastor Mat points out what happens when God's people resist His truth and His work.
Ten lepers along a road cried out for mercy to anyone who passed by, due to their pitiful condition. When they cried out to Jesus, they weren't even asking for healing, just for anything He might give them. Are you facing an overwhelming situation, a burden too heavy, circumstances too complex to solve? Pastor Igor reminds us that our faith doesn't have to be great, we just have to have faith in the greatness of God. Learn a lesson from these ten lepers healed by the Lord: nine who respond in religious ritual, and one in thankful praise.
Revelation Chapter Five begins with a sad scene, but ends with glory. A scroll is seen in the hand of God, sealed with seven seals; and the question is asked: Who is worthy to open it? No one in heaven above or earth below is worthy except the Lamb. Pastor Mat explains how Jesus conquered sin and death like a Lamb, and how we can have victory in our own lives when we follow His example.
In the Apostle Paul's teaching on the Lord's Supper, he reiterates to us Jesus' desire that we remember what He did for us. We need to take communion seriously, solemnly, and reverently as we remember. What took place on the night Jesus was betrayed, on the night he shared the Last Supper with His disciples? Join us in 1 Corinthians 11 as Pastor Mat tells us what happened and what it means for us.
Choices...that is what the Christian life is all about. God chose us; we in turn choose Him. But it doesn't end there. From then on, we need to fight to keep God on the throne of our lives, just like Israel as they entered into the land of Canaan, filled with idolatry of all kinds. Pastor Mat reminds us of the importance of spiritual disciplines and the need to always let Biblical love rule.
Is anything delaying you following Jesus? Or stopping you from giving your time, talent or treasure for His glory?
The prophet Malachi was sent to people who questioned the love of God because the priests were not teaching the Word of God. The spiritual leaders feared men more than the Lord, and Pastor Mat looks at what happened to Israel's relationship with God as a result.
Jesus told the Jewish skeptics that they could believe what He said because He did the works of His Father. Those works showed Jesus was in the Father, and the Father in Him. If we claim to be followers of Christ, we should have godly work too. We are not saved by what we do, but what we do should show that we know Jesus. It's all part of God's plan for the ages.
The one thing Jesus asked us to do as a body of believers was to partake of a simple ceremony to remember Him and to take it seriously. Pastor Mat looks at the Apostle Paul's warning not to take the body and blood unworthily, lest we drink damnation to ourselves. What does this really mean? And how are we meant to view the Lord's Supper?
God, if you really love me, why are things the way they are? Have you ever asked that question?
In Malachi Chapter One, God's people ask Him questions of this kind over and over. Because the leaders don't trust God, the people don't. Pastor Mat looks at why this happens as he begins the book of Malachi written, not just to correct leaders, but also to encourage all believers.
