David wraps up our Jesus Stories series by looking at Mark 2:1-12. When four friends start lowering a paralyzed man through a roof to be healed by Jesus, they get an unexpected response. Instead of immediately healing the man’s legs, Jesus first saves his soul. God’s message rings clear in that moment. It’s not the gift that leads to lasting life, but the gift giver.

During the days of Jesus, the Israelites went to the temple to worship and give thanks to God. Yet, Jesus came to provide us with a new temple. In the story of the ten lepers, we learn the difference between these two temples and are challenged on which one is receiving our gratitude.

What makes God angry? In the gospels what does Jesus get angry about? And, what really matters to God?

If we can discover what truly makes him angry then we'll know what really matters to Him. If we know what matters to Him, if we know what He prioritizes and what He values then we can focus on those things and not on things that don’t matter.
