  "As a neurodivergent person, flexibility to me means uncomfortable growth. Because with autism spectrum disorder, high functioning and adhd, I find a lot of comfortability exists within inflexibility. Because I've created rules, right? I create rules for what I do, what I say, where I go, how I do this each and every day, throughout the day, for every process. Like, it's just constant rulemaking in my mind."

  "What do I say when someone says, you don't look autistic or seem autistic, or I would never know. I've got a few different options in my back pocket, and it really depends on context of which one I pull out and also whether I'm feeling equipped or not to use that particular option. So if someone says to me, you don't look autistic, then my first response is, oh, and what does autism look like?"

  "And it's like another language is being spoken. And I have to say that when I encounter those situations where I'm not being understood because of they're not, no matter how many times I say, just hear my words, don't interpret them, they have no concept of what that means. And then I have no way of that means, I have no way of communicating to them and no way of really understanding them. And there's like no person in between, no translator, right?"

  "Because we may not share something in common, but it doesn't mean that we can't hear each other. To learn how to better relate to each other, how to better support each other, how to be present for each other. But all of that comes down to listening. And typically what I find, especially with either narcissistic or neurotypical people, is just listening for fill in the blank, not listening to understand. And I think that would."

  "Teamwork is a dream work. And how do you do this when you have neurodivergent and neurotypical folks in the room? Communication is everything. Clarity in the communication, transparency in that communication, and then also openness. Open for feedback, open for encouragement, open for acknowledgement. Communication around those things is going to be critical because people's brains are processing information differently. People are operating at different speeds and functions and abilities."
