"Spirituality is experiential, inward and the uncontainable. Often described as the river within, connecting all beings. It is breathed beyond breathing, a soul's silent murmur beneath the noise. Religion is organized practice, belief, ritual, institution, whereas spirituality is personal experience, awareness, inner peace, transformation. Both need not conflict. Spirituality can live within or outside of religion. The distinction is death versus form, essence versus structure. In Japan Zen it is called inner emptiness, satori, direct perception without thought."
