Podcast of the Fallen

Sorry about the month delay! Matt went on vacation, we had Christmas and New Year's, and Nate moved at the beginning of January. Join us for these chapters, as Matt basks in the glory of actually having exposition in a Malazan book. Those of you that have read the series before know how nice it is when things get explained.

This is quite possibly our most laughy (is that a word?) episode yet! Don't ask us why, but we laughed a lot in this one. Oh, and we also talked about one of the best prologues ever written and got a whole ton of exposition and info!

Lee, also known as u/Loleeeee on Reddit and one half of Smiley's Podcast, joins us for a discussion about Deadhouse Gates as a whole. Mora couldn't be here unfortunately due to other commitments. We discuss our favorite characters, moments, and themes of the book, and Lee shows us a glimpse of how knowledgeable he is about the series.

Go check out Smiley's Podcast wherever you get your podcasts! They've covered the Novels of the Malazan Empire and are currently working through the Kharkanas books.

Welcome to our shortest episode yet! People get nailed to trees, Mappo saves a couple dogs, and Coltaine is actually the dad from Elf?! Find out what that means on this, our final readthrough episode of Deadhouse Gates! We can't believe we're already here and want to thank everyone for listening to us, we already have a bigger audience than we ever thought we'd have!

Well, we're finally here... the ending of the Chain of Dogs is upon us. Nate compares Toblakai to Fezzik from The Princess Bride, we compare Icarium to the Hulk, and more. But mostly it's about the Chain of Dogs.

Icarium's past is revealed, Felisin slowly becomes Sha'ik Reborn, and Kalam has a side quest at sea. In addition, we make references to Star Wars, Phineas and Ferb, and Assassin's Creed.

Unfortunately Justin couldn't make it, but we had an awesome conversation with Derek. It ranged everywhere from favorite Malazan characters, book covers, adaptations, book buying habits, and more! Oh, and we did manage to talk a bit about Deadhouse Gates. If you haven't already, check out D&J's Epic Quest anywhere you get your podcasts!

Another major battle, a couple character deaths, and a couple long tangents that aren't related to Malazan at all. What, did you think we'd talk about Malazan when we market ourselves as a Malazan podcast? Don't be crazy ;)

Only two chapters this week. The warrens confuse Matt even more than they already have. Baudin's true identity and mission are revealed, and Heboric's hands get even weirder.

Felisin and the boat gang find a haunted ship and some T'lan Imass to go along with it. Duiker catches up to the army and witnesses Coltaine's first major battle with the Apocalypse armies, and Pust continues to annoy Matt.
