The Whirlwind is upon us! Each of our characters experiences the start of the rebellion in these chapters and it's intense! Heboric touches something he shouldn't and Fiddler and company make a perilous journey across the desert as Duiker chases Coltaine.

This episode is a tough one, but also a fun one. Tough because we get introduced to Felisin's life in the mining camp and all the trauma and abuse around that. Fun because two of the biggest plot twists from the early books in the series take place in Chapter 5!! Gear up for what we feel is our best discussion yet.

We are VERY tired this episode, since we were dumb and decided to record it at 11 PM after a full work day. We are introduced to the new players in Seven Cities, we see Fiddler blow up a giant centipede monster, and hear about the rumblings of a rebellion.

Join us this week for the finale of Gardens of the Moon! Rake battles a big threat, Matt is confused about the Azath House, and also Crokus is an idiot, if you didn't know that already.

We're back in Darujhistan! More assassin action is afoot, the Malazan squad shares a heartfelt moment with their seargeant, and Matt's mind is absolutely blown by a revelation in one of these chapters.

Sidenote: There was a whole tangent we went on near the end of the episode about Rake's relationship with Dragnipur that evolved into what kind of music he listens to (we settled on a mixture of soft jazz and death metal) that turned into a discussion about adapting Malazan... but the audio somehow messed up for lots of that, so if the episode ends a little abruptly... that's why.
